About the journal
Rem - Revista Escola de Minas is the first South American technical magazine. It was established in 1936 and since then, has been specializing in the publication of articles in the fields of engineering, mining, metallurgy and geology.
Its objective is to serve as a means to divulge technical scientific papers elaborated by national and international authors in the aforementioned areas. Circulation includes the mineral-metallurgical sector, relative government entities, national and foreign research centers, universities and colleges, and schools.
It is sent directly to the subscribers, and is issued every three months (March, June, September and December).
REM, these days, is sponsored by CNPq and receives support from the following companies: AngloAmericam, ArcelorMittal, BHP Billiton, Delp, Geosol, Minasligas, Petrobras, Samarco, Usiminas, Vale e Votorantim, Metso, Gaustec etc.

Instructions to Authors
General Instructions
锟斤拷?REM is printed in the format and dimensions of this publication.
锟斤拷?Papers should be typed with automatic spacing. The paper to be used is A4 and should have 2cm margins. The last page should contain the author鈥檚 address and e-mail. Article submission should contain the original paper, one copy, and a diskette with the text. The author should maintain an identical copy.
锟斤拷?Articles will be accepted in Portuguese, English and Spanish.
锟斤拷?The title (Portuguese, English) should express the general idea of the article in a clear and precise manner. Immediately following the title, list the complete name(s) of the author(s), title(s) and precedence.
锟斤拷?Articles should have an abstract (keyword and palavras chaves) in Portuguese/Spanish with a 180-word maximum, followed by an English version. This abstract is a concise summary of the facts contained in the article, illuminating important facts and conclusions.
锟斤拷?Articles should be precise, not longer than 08 pages in size 12 Times New Roman font, including abstracts, illustrations, tables, bibliographical references, etc. In very special cases, articles will be accepted with a superior number of pages if the data presented is extremely important to the understanding of the topic in discussion.
锟斤拷?Graphic designs should be used only to clarify texts.
锟斤拷?When illustrations have already been published at another source, furnish the source and reproduction permission.
锟斤拷?The article鈥檚 outline should maintain the following standard format for publication:

REM publishes up to six photographs in color. Beyond this number is at the author鈥檚 expense.

How to send a digitized article
The article should be digitized in Word with a 鈥渄oc锟斤拷?or 鈥渞tf锟斤拷?extension. The illustrations (photos, maps, etc.) should not be inserted in the text. These should be sent with eps, tif, Corel, gif, or jpg, etc. extensions. Only CAD files are not accepted by the editor鈥檚 programs.

Page Charges
REM has a voluntary page charge of $50 per printed page. Many institutions, research groups, government agencies, and companies, and individuals include funds for publication costs in their scientific budgets. Authors are asked to seek these or other funds for page charges.
Ten copies of REM without covers will be furnished free to authors paying full voluntary page charges.
