About the journal The Journal of the Australian Traditional-Medicine Society (ISSN 1326-3390) publishes articles on the activities of the Australian Traditional-Medicine Society, as well as on all aspects of complementary medicine as taught and practised in Australia.

The Journal of the Australian Traditional-Medicine Society (ISSN 1326-3390) publishes articles on the activities of the Australian Traditional-Medicine Society, as well as on all aspects of complementary medicine as taught and practised in Australia.
An article must be on a theme that is generally accepted as being part of complementary medicine as recognised by the Australian Traditional-Medicine Society, and is of relevance to Australian complementary medicine clinical practice .
Author/s cannot assume that a submitted article will be accepted. The acceptance of an article will be based on the assessment made by the Peer Review Committee. Author/s with a commercial interest in a therapeutic good, device or service mentioned in the article must declare their interest. This interest may be published in the Journal for the information of readers.
Submission of an article implies that it has not been previously published, and is not in the process of being submitted elsewhere for publication. Please consult with the Editor by either telephone (02) 9809 6800 or email before submitting an article.
Articles must be written to a standard that is regarded as appropriate for a professional journal. Submissions with poor grammar, spelling mistakes or poor presentation will be rejected. Information presented in the article must be substantiated from generally accepted reputable sources of information. The Editor may request copies of the references used in the article. Unreferenced or poorly referenced articles will be rejected.
All articles are subject to peer review and the editing process. Alterations to the submitted article will be made in accordance with the Journal's in-house style. Effort is made for the author or authors to see the final copy, but time restraints may prevent this from happening.
The Journal has adopted the Vancouver System of Referencing. References are numbered in the order they appear in the article. Examples of book and journal referencing are:

Fujiwara R, Tong ZG, Matsuoka H. Effects of acupuncture on immune response in mice. Int J Neuroscience 1991;57:141-50.
Please save the file as either Rich Text Format or Word format. Submissions must be sent by email to journal@atms.com.au . Please send graphics as separate files by email, and indicate the location/s in the article for insertion of the graphics. Graphics must be of high resolution and mono (ie no colour). Copyright requirements are the responsibility of authors.
Advertorials, or articles/news items whose purpose is to inform, advise or promote a branded product, course or service, are not accepted.
When published, full copyright of the article is with the Journal of the Australian Traditional-Medicine Society, which is a publication of the Australian Traditional-Medicine Society (ABN 046 002 844 233) . The article may be additionally published on the ATMS website, or in any of the bibliographic index databases that index the Journal eg AltHealthwatch, CINAHL, or in any other media that the Journal participates in. Submission of an article implies full agreement by the author or authors that the article is the property of the Journal of the Australian Traditional-Medicine Society. Author/s who do not agree with this copyright provision should not submit an article.
No payment is made for accepted articles. If any revenue or royalties are received from the publication of an article, it is understood by the author/s that all revenue will remain with the Journal and none will be distributed to the author/s.
The size of an article should not exceed about 3,000 words. Articles must include:
Title (of about 6 words)
Author's name and awards (eg ND, BSc)
Author's address, telephone, fax and email address
Author's biography for publication with the article (one sentence only)
Summary of the essence of the article in about 15-30 words. The postal address of the Journal is PO Box 1027, Meadowbank NSW 2114.
