About the journal
The powerful emergence and global spread of antibiotic resistant microbial pathogens and resistance genes in the 1990s presents challenges to a wide range of disciplines - from the molecular biology of resistance mechanisms, virulence genes, and disease through molecular epidemiology all the way to drug design, infection control, and medical practice. This international journal provides a multidisciplinary forum for peer-reviewed original publications as well as topical reviews and special reports.

Instructions to Authors
Microbial Drug Resistance: Mechanisms, Epidemiology, and Disease, will publish original peer-review articles, reviews, short communications, and other information from all sectors of the scientific and public health community which cover the most pressing issues in the field.
All new manuscripts must be submitted online at:

Manuscript Submission and Copyright Agreement Form
The Copyright Agreement form (transfer_of_copyright.pdf) should be submitted once your manuscript has been accepted for publication. Manuscripts cannot be published without this form. The corresponding author is responsible for obtaining signatures of coauthors. Authors not permitted to release copyright must still return the form signed under the statement of the reason for not releasing the copyright. Upon acceptance of your manuscript, all authors will receive instructions on how to submit this form online.
PREPARATION OF MANUSCRIPT
Submit text manuscript in Microsoft Word double spaced.
On the first page, give the title of the article, name(s) of author(s), institutional affiliation(s), and the name and complete address, phone and fax numbers of the corresponding author. Following this, please include the introduction, materials and methods, results, discussion, acknowledgments, references, tables, and figure legends. Results and Discussion should be separate sections. Number pages consecutively; the first author's last name should appear on each page. Authors should review the style and clarity of their manuscripts with colleagues before submission. Please follow this protocol to avoid delay in publication. Authors should note that manuscripts may be edited if needed for grammar and usage. Be prepared to enter a running title of no more than 45 characters, as well as an abstract of about 200 words, stating the aims, results, and conclusions drawn from the study.
TABLES AND ILLUSTRATIONS
Number each table consecutively and give each table a title. Each table must be in its own file. Each table must stand alone, i.e., contain all necessary information in the caption, and the table itself must be understood independently of the text. Details of experimental conditions should be included in the table footnotes. Information that appears in the text should not be repeated in tables, and tables should not contain data that can be given in the text in one or two sentences.
A legend should be supplied for each figure, and all legends numbered consecutively and provided (double spaced) in a separate file or as part of the text file. Figures should be numbered in the order cited in the text. Images should not show the name of a manufacturer or reveal patients閳�?name(s). Please keep in mind that the figures will be reduced, so please do not submit large figures/graphs that contain small type, as the text within the figure will not be readable after reduction.
Please follow these guidelines for submitting figures:
- Do NOT embed art files into a Word or PDF document.
- Line illustrations should be submitted at 1200 dpi.
- Halftones and color should be submitted at a minimum of 300 dpi.
- Save as either TIFF or EPS files.
- Color art must be saved as CYMK - not RGB.
- Black and White art must be submitted as grayscale 閳�?B style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal"> not RGB.
- Do NOT submit PowerPoint, PDF, Bitmap or Excel files.
Please name your artwork files with the submitting authors name i.e. SmithFig1.tif, SmithTable2.tif etc. Authors who do not follow these guidelines may have their submission returned to them without being reviewed.
In order to expedite your submission as quickly and efficiently as possible we ask that all artwork be checked using Digital Expert before submitting. This is a free tool that will ensure that you prepare and submit quality digital materials suitable for print.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ABOUT ART FILES
Converting Word or Excel files: Perhaps the best and easiest way to convert Word or Excel files into a format which is suitable for print is to scan them using the below guidelines:

璺� Final color mode: cmyk
璺� save file as: .tif or .eps

Immediately following the Acknowledgments section, include a section entitled 閳ユ穾uthor Disclosure Statement.閳�?In this portion of the manuscript, authors must disclose any commercial associations that might create a conflict of interest in connection with submitted manuscripts. This statement should include appropriate information for EACH author, thereby representing that competing financial interests of all authors have been appropriately disclosed according to the policy of the Journal. It is important that all conflicts of interest, whether they are actual or potential, be disclosed. This information will remain confidential while the manuscript is being reviewed and will not influence the editorial decision. REFERENCES
All references must be cited in the text using a superscript Arabic number. Arrange the reference list in alphabetical order by first author and then number consecutively. Abbreviate journal names according to Serial Sources for the BIOSIS Data Base (BioSciences Information Service, 1992). Use the following format:
