Manuscript Requirements
Please follow the guidelines below for submitting a manuscript to BioPharm International.
Peer Review. Members of BioPharm International's Editorial Advisory Board and other industry experts review manuscripts on technical and regulatory topics. Reviews are blind. Readers, vendors, and product manufacturers are all best served when authors present their scientific and technical data and conclusions in a straightforward and neutral way. BioPharm International readers know that the magazine's editors and reviewers insist on solid data to support an article's conclusions. Reviewers expect authors to resist the pressure to emphasize product features or names or in their work, and they recommend rejection of manuscripts that look promotional. Vendor authors and others interested in presenting technology updates or application notes are encouraged to contact the Editor in Chief about how to proceed.
We also accept practical articles on business and legal topics of concern to the industry, such as intellectual property, licensing and partnerships, outsourcing, and other topics identified in the editorial calendar.
Article length. Articles on technical and regulatory topics generally contain ~2,500锟斤拷?,500 words and include tables and figures as appropriate. Business articles generally are shorter (~2,000锟斤拷?,500 words). In all cases, the length is flexible: the article should provide sufficient detail without excessive length.
We also welcome 550锟斤拷?00 word opinion pieces, on topical issues in biotechnology, for our "Final Word" column.
Abstract. All article submissions must include an abstract of approximately 75锟斤拷?00 words, along with an introduction and summary or conclusion.

We also encourage authors to submit an abstract or outline before completing an article, and to call with any questions (tel. 732.346.3020).
If the paper includes equations or special characters that might be lost during electronic file transfer, please include a PDF with your e-mail and a mail us a hard copy to:

Formatting. To expedite the review process, please format as follows:
- Remove all headers and footers.
- Identify authors only on the title page (that information is removed for reviews); and ensure no author or company names appear in headers or footers.
- List all references at the end of the manuscript, in numerical order. Call out all references in the text with a number (superscript or in parentheses). Please do not embed your endnotes; this complicates file transfer. Please follow the reference format of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors, available at http://www.icmje.org/.
- Place each table on a separate page; start figure legends on a separate page, and identify each by its proper number. Explain all symbols used in the figures.
- Send all figures, and photos in a separate file. Do not embed or insert them into the text.
Formats for Figures. We prefer to receive figures and graphs in the original format in which they were created (e.g., Excel, Illustrator).
Cover & Feature Art
We are always seeking good photos or illustrations for use on the cover and within articles. Photos for use within the article should be at least 4 x 5 inches, at 300 dpi. Cover images should be 8 x 11 inches or larger, at 300 dpi.
Author photos. Some articles will require a headshot of the lead author, in JPG or EPS format, ~3 in. wide at 300 dpi.

Exclusivity and Copy Licenses All manuscripts are reviewed with the understanding that they have never been published and that they are not under consideration elsewhere. If illustrations or tabular data used in the manuscript have been published, the author is responsible for obtaining permission to use them from the copyright holder.
Once the article is accepted for publication, we will require that all authors and co-authors sign our standard copy license agreement.
Deadlines. Submissions targeted for a particular regular issue or for a special supplement or are due 2.5 months ahead of time (e.g., for a June supplement, submissions are due March 15). Other manuscripts can be submitted at any time, and will be scheduled for publication upon acceptance.
