Manuscript Submission
The manuscript should be submitted via email in MS−Word or pdf format to:

Dr. Manu Malek
Editor−in−Chief
Journal of Network and Systems Management

E−mail: mmalek@ieee.org
Publication Policies
Submission is a representation that the manuscript has not been published previously and is not currently under consideration for publication elsewhere. A statement transferring copyright from the authors (or their employers, if they hold the copyright) to Kluwer Academic/Plenum Publishers will be required before the manuscript can be accepted for publication. The Editor−in−Chief will supply the necessary forms for this transfer. Such a written transfer of copyright, which previously was assumed to be implicit in the act of submitting a manuscript, is necessary under the U.S. Copyright Law in order for the publisher to carry through the dissemination of research results and reviews as widely and effectively as possible.
Manuscript Style
Title Page

A title page is to be provided and should include the title of the article, name(s) and affiliation(s) of author(s) (no degrees), and suggested running head. The affiliation should comprise the department, institution (usually university or company), city, and state (or nation) and should be typed as a footnote to each author's name. The suggested running head should be less than 80 characters (including spaces) and should comprise the article title or an abbreviated version thereof. For office purposes, the title page should include the complete mailing address, telephone number, fax number, and e−mail address of the one author designated to review proofs.

Abstract

An abstract is to be provided on the second page, preferably no longer than 150 words.

Key Words

A list of 4 or 5 key words is to be provided directly below the abstract. Key words should express the precise content of the manuscript, as they are used for indexing purposes.

Sections

All sections should be numbered (such as 1. INTRODUCTION). Subsections should be identified with section and subsection numbers (such as 6.1. Second−Value Subheading or 6.1.2. Third−Value Subheading). If applicable, an independent single−number system (one for each category) should be used to label all definitions, remarks, examples, theorems, propositions, etc. The label, such as Example 4, should be typed with paragraph indentation, followed by a period and the example itself.

Mathematical Notation

Mathematical notation should be type−written wherever possible. If hand−written notation must be used, it should be clear and legible, with any necessary explanatory notes located in the margin. Equations should be numbered consecutively by section with Arabic numerals in parentheses placed flush right, and should be thus referred to in the text [such as Eqs. (2.1) and (2.2)].

Maximum Paper Length

The maximum paper length is 25 double−spaced pages including figures and tables.

Footnotes

Footnotes should be avoided. When their use is absolutely necessary, footnotes should be numbered consecutively using Arabic numerals and should be typed at the bottom of the page to which they refer. Place a line above the footnote, so that it is set off from the text. Use the appropriate superscript number (without parentheses) for citation in the text.
References
List references numerically at the end of the manuscript in the order cited in the text (NOT in alphabetical order). Use the appropriate Arabic numeral in square brackets on the baseline for citation in the text. References should include (in this order):

initials and last names of all author(s)

title of article

name of publication

volume number

inclusive pages

and year published.

The style and punctuation of the references should conform to that used in the Journal, illustrated by the following examples:

1. W. D. Grover and J. S. Hayer, System concept and simulation model for a proposed class of delay−tolerant variably−priced network services, Journal of Network and Systems Management, Vol. 6, No. 4, pp. 451−−473, 1998.

Book:
2. P. K. Ray, Cooperative Management of Enterprise Networks, Kluwer Academic/Plenum Publishers, New York, 2000.

After Manuscript is Accepted for Publication

The manuscript should be typed double−spaced on one side of 8??11 inch white paper using generous margins on all sides. All copies must be dark, sharp, and clear.

Illustrations (photographs, drawings, diagrams, and charts) are to be numbered consecutively using Arabic numerals. Artwork for each figure must be provided on a separate sheet. Also, the captions for illustrations should be typed on a separate sheet. All illustrations must be complete and final, i.e., camera−ready. Photographs should be large, glossy prints, showing high contrast. Drawings should be prepared with India ink. Either original drawings or good−quality photographic prints are acceptable. Identify figures on the back with author's name and number of the illustration.

Tables should be numbered with Roman numerals and referred to by number in the text. Each table should be typed on a separate sheet of paper. Also, the titles for tables should be typed on a separate sheet.

All acknowledgments (including those for grant and financial support) should be typed in one paragraph and included before the list of references.

A short biography (about 50 words) of each author should follow the list of references.

Two copies of the manuscript as well as the related files on a floppy disk, and the original signed Transfer of Copyright form must be sent to Editor−in−Chief. Label the disk with identifying information ?type of operating system and software used, and first authors' last name. The disk must be the one from which the accompanying manuscript
(finalized version) was printed out.
Page Charges
The journal makes no pages charges. Reprints are available to authors, and order forms with the current price schedule are sent with proofs.
Springer Open Choice
In addition to the normal publication process (whereby an article is submitted to the journal and access to that article is granted to customers who have purchased a subscription), Springer now provides an alternative publishing option: Springer Open Choice. A Springer Open Choice article receives all the benefits of a regular subscription−based article, but in addition is made available publicly through Springers online platform SpringerLink. To publish via Springer Open Choice, upon acceptance please visit fthe link below to complete the relevant order form and provide the required payment information. Payment must be received in full before publication or articles will publish as regular subscription−model articles. We regret that Springer Open Choice cannot be ordered for published articles.
