Editorial Policy

Send manuscripts and all correspondence to Christine Vourakis, Editor, Journal of Addictions Nursing, California State University, Sacramento, Division of Nursing, Solano Hall, Fifth Floor (Room 5011), 6000 J Street, Sacramento, CA 95819-6104. Telephone: (916) 278-4663. Fax: (916) 278-3826. Manuscripts should be original, never before published, and not submitted simultaneously to another publication.

Article Submission

Manuscripts should be submitted double-spaced on 8?x 11 paper. Leave ample margins on both sides, top and bottom. Submit the original and three copies, including original illustrations, figures, and tables. Disk submission is required, and the disk must match the hard copy exactly. Disks must be submitted in PC format, in Microsoft Word. Submissions must include a cover letter listing the authors' work and home telephone numbers and addresses, titles, affiliations, credentials, degrees, and small biographical sketches. Each article must contain an ABSTRACT.

Editorial Review

Manuscripts are reviewed by the editor and members of the editorial board. Publication is at the discretion of the editor and editorial board. The Journal of Addictions Nursing is the official publication of the International Nurses Society on Addictions (IntNSA).

Article Format

Authors are instructed to use the 5 th edition of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association for preparation of manuscripts for submission. No references should be cited in the abstract. The article should have a main title, with subheads to indicate subdivisions in the text, and an abstract. Abbreviations and acronyms should be spelled out when first used unless common to the field. Generic names for drugs are preferred over brand names.

Tables

Type each table and its title on a separate sheet of paper. Use Arabic numerals to number tables. Each table must stand alone - i.e., contain all necessary information in the caption, and the table itself must be understood independently of the text.

Illustrations

Illustrations submitted (line drawings, halftones, photos, photomicrographs, etc.) should be clean originals or digital files. Digital files are recommended for highest quality reproduction and should be 300 dpi or higher, sized to fit on journal page, and EPS, TIFF, or PSD format only. Illustrations should be separate files, not embedded in text files. Color illustrations will be considered for publication; however, the author will be required to bear the full cost involved in their printing and publication. The charge for the first page with color is $900.00. The next three pages with color are $450.00 each. A custom quote will be provided for color art totaling more than 4 journal pages. Good-quality color prints should be provided in their final size. The publisher has the right to refuse publication of color prints deemed unacceptable.
