Within the last decade, CFD has gained such maturity that it is now considered to be an indispensable analysis and design tool in a wide, and always increasing range of industrial applications. We believe that the application work can be as honourable as the development work. The practical flow problems are often so complex that a high level of ingenuity is required in issues such as finding a suitable trade-off between modelling complexity and practicability within the industrial environment, defining boundary conditions, or interpretation of the results for a better understanding of the flow physics. Connection to CAD and development of industrial design systems using CFD is a further challenging area.
