About the journal

The aim of Natural Product Research is to publish important contributions in the field of natural product chemistry. In order to be published in the shortest possible time, manuscripts are invited in camera ready state. The journal covers all aspects of research in the chemistry and biochemistry of naturally occurring compounds.

The communications include coverage of work on natural substances of land and sea and of plants, microbes and animals. Discussions of structure elucidation, synthesis and experimental biosynthesis of natural products as well as developments of methods in these areas are welcomed in the journal. Finally, research papers in fields on the chemistry-biology boundary, eg. fermentation chemistry, plant tissue culture investigations etc., are accepted into the journal.

Natural Product Research issues will燽e爏ubtitled either "Part A - Synthesis and Structure" or "Part B - Bioactive Natural Products". for details on this , see the forthcoming articles section.

Instructions to Authors

1. Introduction

It is essential that authors prepare their manuscripts according to established specifications. Failure to follow them may result in your paper being delayed and the effectiveness of the search capabilities offered by electronic delivery will depend upon the care used by authors in preparing their manuscripts. Therefore, contributors are strongly encouraged to read these instructions carefully before preparing a manuscript for submission, and to check the manuscript for compliance with these notes before submitting it for publication.

2. Submitting a Paper to Natural Product Research

Papers for consideration should be sent to the Editor in Chief or the Regional Editor:

Editor in Chief:

Atta-ur-Rahman
HEJ Research Institute of Chemical Sciences
University of Karachi
75270
Pakistan Email: mhej@cyber.net.pk

Regional Editor:

Armandodoriano Bianco
Dipartimento di Chimica,
Universita "La Sapienza"
Piazzale Aldo Moro 5
00185 Roma
Italy
Email: armandodoriano.bianco@uniroma1.it

Authors are encouraged to submit manuscripts electronically. Electronic submissions should be sent as email attachments using a standard word processing program, such as MSWORD or PDF. If email submission is not possible, please send an electronic version on disk along with three paper copies together with one set of high quality figures for reproduction.

When the accepted paper is submitted in final form, please send two paper copies and a copy on disk - see Electronic Processing.

Please make sure your contact address information is clearly visible on the outside of all packages you are sending to Editors.

3. General Guidelines

Natural Product Research considers all manuscripts on the strict condition that they have been submitted only to Natural Product Research, that they have not been published already, nor are they under consideration for publication or in press elsewhere. Authors who fail to adhere to this condition will be charged with all costs which Natural Product Research incurs and their papers will not be published.

Contributions to Natural Product Research must report original research and will be subjected to review by referees.

There are a limited number of colour pages within the annual page allowance. Authors should restrict their use of colour to situations where it is necessary on scientific, and not merely cosmetic, grounds. In addition, authors may pay to publish colour illustrations, but please consult the publisher regarding cost before submission.

Writing your paper

  • For all manuscripts non-discriminatory language is mandatory. Sexist or racist terms should not be used.
  • Authors should include a word count with their manuscript.
  • Each paper should have three to six keywords. In addition to Keywords, authors are encouraged to provide three to six classification codes from the ACS classification system.
  • Papers are accepted only in English.
  • Manuscripts should be typed on single sides of good quality white A4 or 8 x 11 inch paper, double-spaced throughout including the reference section, with wide (3 cm) margins.
  • All the authors of a paper should include their full names, affiliations, postal addresses, telephone and fax numbers and email addresses on the cover page of manuscripts.
  • Abstracts of 100 - 150 words are required for all papers submitted and should precede the text of a paper - see Notes on Style.
  • Manuscripts should be compiled in the following order: title page; abstract; keywords; main text; acknowledgments; appendixes (as appropriate); references; table(s) with caption(s) (on individual sheets); figure caption(s) (as a list).
  • Section headings should be concise and numbered sequentially, using a decimal system for subsections.
  • Authors must adhere to SI units. Units are not italicised.
  • When using a word which is or is asserted to be a proprietary term or trade mark authors must use the symbol ?or TM or alternatively a footnote can be inserted using the wording below:

This article includes a word that is or is asserted to be a proprietary term or trade mark. Its inclusion does not imply it has acquired for legal purposes a non-proprietary or general significance, nor is any other judgement implied concerning its legal status.

Physical and spectral data must be reported on all new compounds and key intermediates.

A fully completed CIF (Crystallographic Information File) should be deposited with the CCDC (send files as attachments to deposit@ccdc.cam.ac.uk) and the returned deposition number quoted in the experimental section of the manuscript. Please click here for specific Crystallographic Instructions for Authors.

4. Copyright

It is a condition of publication that authors vest or license copyright in their articles, including abstracts, in Taylor & Francis. This enables us to ensure full copyright protection and to disseminate the article, and the Journal, to the widest possible readership in print and electronic formats as appropriate.
