Its members are qualified to conduct and supervise scientific research, must hold the PhD degree or equivalent, and must have published significant research other than the doctoral dissertation. Society membership, including associate members, is now around 2,500. The main function of the Society is to exchange information among scientists. To this end, it publishes six journals: Behavior Research Methods Cognitive, Affective, & Behavioral Neuroscience Learning & Behavior Memory & Cognition Perception & Psychophysics Psychonomic Bulletin & Review A meeting for the presentation of scientific papers is held annually, usually in November. The 47th Annual Meeting will be November 16–19, 2006, in Houston. The 46th Annual Meeting was held November 10–13, 2005, in Toronto. Programs (abstracts) are available at the meetings, or, beginning with the 1996 meeting, through the Publications Office.
