It has predominantly an applied science and engineering focus, but solicits and accepts high-quality contributions in all earth-physics disciplines from global geophysics to applied and engineering geophysics, including geodynamics, natural and controlled-source seismology, oil, gas and mineral exploration, petrophysics and reservoir geophysics. It covers those aspects of engineering that bear closely on geophysics or on the targets and problems that geophysics addresses, typically engineering focused on the subsurface, particularly petroleum engineering, rock mechanics, geophysical software engineering, drilling technology, remote sensing, instrumentation and sensor design. The journal is positioned to sit astride the traditional divide between science and engineering where it reflects a growing trend in both industry and academia.
