About the journal

Journal of Geophysics and Engineering aims to publicise and promote research and developments in geophysics and in related areas of engineering. It has predominantly an applied science and engineering focus, but solicits and accepts high-quality contributions in all earth-physics disciplines from global geophysics to applied and engineering geophysics, including geodynamics, natural and controlled-source seismology, oil, gas and mineral exploration, petrophysics and reservoir geophysics. It covers those aspects of engineering that bear closely on geophysics or on the targets and problems that geophysics addresses, typically engineering focused on the subsurface, particularly petroleum engineering, rock mechanics, geophysical software engineering, drilling technology, remote sensing, instrumentation and sensor design. The journal is positioned to sit astride the traditional divide between science and engineering where it reflects a growing trend in both industry and academia.

Instructions to Authors

Submission addresses

Please read the comprehensive information on preparing your article files for submission and on the options for submitting your article in our Guidelines for authors available via Author services (authors.iop.org). Here are brief details of the alternative submission methods:

Web
We strongly recommend that you submit via the Web using our online submission form, because this method is most efficient and therefore quickest to publication.

E-mail
Send your article's single compressed archive file as an attachment to an e-mail to jge@iop.org stating electronic submission in the subject line.

FTP
Send your article's single compressed archive file by anonymous FTP to ftp.iop.org

  • Please log on with username anonymous and use your e-mail address as the password.
  • Change to the /incoming directory.
  • Change to the jge directory.
  • Upload your compressed file using the appropriate commands for your FTP software. Make sure that ASCII files are sent as text only while other files are sent as binary.

Disk
Send your article's single compressed archive file on a 3.5 inch floppy disk or a Zip disk.
