About the journal
Description
This series (8 issues per year) is devoted to palaeontology, prehistory and evolutionary sciences. It covers the following domains: general, systematic, and human palaeontology, prehistory, evolution, history of sciences.
Articles are preferably written in English, with a French Abstract. Articles in French including an abridged English version, at least one page long, are accepted.

    • Length and language:
      Articles should be preferably submitted in English. Maximum length: 8 printed pages in the journal, illustrations and reference list included (a page without illustration corresponds to 5000 signs, spaces included). Articles that cannot be submitted in English must include an abridged English version (5000 to 10 000 signs, spaces included). The 8-page limit is raised to 12 for invited articles, preferably written in English; a short article, called Commentary/Response or Perspective, also preferably written in English, is limited to 2 printed pages.
    • Organization (in order of appearance):
      • title page: title in French and in English (20 words maximum), full first name, family name and affiliation of each author; postal address, phone and fax number, e-mail address of the corresponding author;
      • short abstract (100 to 150 words) with keywords (7 maximum) in French and in English (translation from English to French can be made by the Editorial Board, on request);
      • abridged English version, if the article is written in French;
      • text of the article;
      • acknowledgements (optional);
      • bibliographical reference list;
      • figure and table captions, in French and in English;
      • figures;
      • tables.
    • Bibliographical references:
      References must be numbered and listed between square brackets in alphabetical order. For each author, classify according to the following order: author alone, author with an only one co-author, author with several co-authors, chronological order for references quoting the same authors. The list must include all references quoted in the text and in the figure and table captions.
      Journal titles must be abbreviated according to international rules. Do not use italics and bold for journal titles and volume numbers.

    • Illustrations (graphics, plates, photographs, etc.):
      These must all be labelled as figures and numbered using Arabic numerals. If possible, please submit them in their final size (75 mm width). If they are wider than 1 column (to be avoided if possible), their width must be no more than 160 mm. Tables must also be numbered in Arabic numerals. All figures and tables must be quoted in the text. Every colour figure will be included in the electronic version (ScienceDirect), but will be printed in black and white in the paper version. Colour printing may be exceptionally allowed by the Editor-in-Chief, when colour is compulsory to highlight the information present in the figure. Figures must be free of copyright. If re-using a figure already published, the authorization of the publisher of the original article is necessary, as well for paper as for electronic publishing.

  • ELECTRONIC VERSION OF THE ARTICLE
    • Electronic version to be supplied in an editable form (source file).
    • Highly recommended software: Microsoft Word higher than 5.0.
    • Graphics and illustrations: preferable formats are TIFF or high-definition JPEG (minimum resolution: 400 dpi), EPS (inappropriate if figure contains text), Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator. Avoid Power Point documents. Figures must be supplied separately, in their source file, and in no instance incorporated in the text file. Resolution must be adequate for printing (avoid absolutely 憇creen?quality images, 72 dpi).

  • PROOF CORRECTION
    Proofs will be directly sent to the corresponding author, generally via e-mail, with the correction instructions, copyright-transfer and offprint-order forms. Corrections made to proofs should only be typographical. They must be communicated as soon as possible to the e-mail address indicated in the message accompanying the proof.

  • OFFPRINTS
    Authors will receive free of charge 25 offprints of their article and will be given the opportunity to order additional copies at their expense (send the order form with the proof corrections).
