About the journal
Description
Cluster Computing: the Journal of Networks, Software Tools and Applications will provide a forum for presenting the latest research and technology that unify the fields of parallel processing, distributed computing systems and computer networks. The current advances in processing and networking technology and software have spurred a lot of research interest in network computing, as demonstrated in Grid computing, and the federal Cyber Infrastructure initiatives.
In the last few years, we have seen an increased interest in developing applications, software tools, communications protocols and computer networks to capitalize on these advances and initiatives. Publications about these developments currently appear in several journals that either focus on the communications field, or on parallel and distributed computing with a strong emphasis on the parallel computing field. Cluster Computing will uniquely address the latest results in these three fields that support high performance distributed computing over a computer network. The journal will be an important source of information for the growing number of researchers, developers and users of High Performance Distributed Computing (HPDC) environments. In HPDC environments, parallel and/or distributed computing techniques are applied to the solution of computationally intensive applications across networks of computers.

Manuscript Submisson
Authors should submit their manuscripts online. Electronic submission substantially reduces the editorial processing and reviewing times. Please connect directly to the site below, and upload all of your manuscript files follow ing the instructions given on the screen.
Manuscript Style

|
Typeset, single column, double or 1 1/2 space; use one side of sheet only (laser printed, typewritten and good quality duplication acceptable). |

|
Use an informative title for the paper and include an abstract of no longer than 300 words at the head of the manuscript. The abstract should be a carefully worded description of the problem addressed, the key ideas introduced, and the results. Abstracts will be printed with the article. |

|
Provide a separate double−spaced sheet listing all footnotes, beginning with "affiliation of author" and continuing with numbered footnotes. |

|
Acknowledgment of financial support may be given if appropriate. |

|
References should be numbered and listed in the order of citation in a separate section at the end of the paper, with citations by numbers in square brackets (e.g., [1], [2], etc.). The reference listing should appear separately in alphabetical order at the end of the paper. References should be complete,in the following style: Style for papers: Author(s) initials followed by last name for each author, paper title, publication name, volume, inclusive page numbers, month and year. Style for books: Author(s), title, publisher, location, year, chapter or page numbers (if desired). Examples as follows: (Book) D. Marr, Vision, a Computational Investigation into the Human Representation & Processing of Visual Information, Freeman: San Francisco, CA, 1982. (Journal article) A. Rosenfeld and M. Thurston, "Edge and curve detection for visual scene analysis," IEEE Trans. Comput. vol. C−20, pp. 562−569, 1971. (Conference proceedings) A. Witkin, "Scales Space Filtering," in Proc. Int. Joint Conf. Artif. Intell.}, Karlsruhe, West Germany, 1983, pp. 1019−1021. (Lab. memo) A.L. Yuille and T. Poggio, "Scaling Theorems for Zero Crossings," M.I.T. Artif. Intell. Lab., Massachusetts Inst. Technol., Cambridge, MA, A.I. Memo, 722, 1983. |

|
Type mathematical expressions exactly as they should appear in print. Use appropriate typeface. Journal style for letter symbols is as follows: variables, italic type (indicated by underline); constants, roman text type; matrices and vectors, boldface type (indicated by wavy underline). Use appropriate typeface. It will be assumed that letters in displayed equations are to be set in italic type unless you mark them otherwise. All letter symbols in text discussion must be marked if they should be italic or boldface. Indicate best breaks for equations in case they will not fit on one line. Numbers for displayed equations should appear in parentheses flush with the right margin. |

Please include a brief (250 word maximum) biography for each author together with the corresponding mailing and e−mail address. Please include a photograph of each author. CLUS publishes black−and−white author photographs at the end of each article. Black−and−white photos reproduce better, but color photographs are acceptable. |

Proofing
Please be sure to include your e−mail address on your paper. If your paper is accepted, we will provide proofs electronically. Your cooperation is appreciated. The proofread copy should be returned to the Publisher within 72 hours.
Copyright
Authors will be asked, upon acceptance of an article, to transfer copyright of the article to the Publisher. This will ensure the widest possible dissemination of information under copyright laws. Open access articles (an option available for authors, against payment of an Article Processing Fee via the Springer Open Choice program) do not require transfer of copyright as the copyright remains with the author. In opting for open access, they agree to the Springer Open Access Licence. Details about the program and a link to the Open Access Licence can be found on the Springer Open Choice web pages: www.springer.com/openchoice
Offprints
Each group of authors is entitled to 25 free offprints of their paper. Additional offprints may be ordered through the offprint form provided with the proofs.
Springer Open Choice
In addition to the normal publication process (whereby an article is submitted to the journal and access to that article is granted to customers who have purchased a subscription), Springer now provides an alternative publishing option: Springer Open Choice. A Springer Open Choice article receives all the benefits of a regular 'subscription−based' article, but in addition is made available publicly through Springer's online platform SpringerLink. To publish via Springer Open Choice, upon acceptance please visit the link below to complete the relevant order form and provide the required payment information. Payment must be received in full before publication or articles will publish as regular subscription−model articles. We regret that Springer Open Choice cannot be ordered for published articles.
