About the journal

Agricultural and Food Science publishes original reports on agriculture and food research. The papers, which are of international interest but feature a northern perspective, cover a wide range of topics in basic and applied research.

Submissions are internationally refereed. Review articles and research notes will also be considered. Readers are welcome to send their comments on articles recently published in the journal (Letters to the Editor).

Agricultural and Food Science is indexed by the following databases: AGRIS, BIOSIS, CAB Abstracts, Cambridge Scientific Abstracts, Current Awareness in Biological Sciences, Current Contents, Derwent Crop Protection File, FSTA, Pascal and Science Citation Index.


Instructions to Authors

Agricultural and Food Science welcomes contributions in the form of original articles, research notes, review articles and letters to the editor. Submissions are internationally refereed.

When a manuscript is submitted, it is assumed that the work has not been published elsewhere and that it is not simultaneously being submitted to another journal. Approval from an appropriately constituted research ethics committee is required for all studies involving animals.

If a manuscript is accepted, the authors will be requested to assign the copyright of the article to Agricultural and Food Science.

Electronic submissions are encouraged

Whenever possible, please send a copy of the manuscript as an e-mail attachment or on a CD-ROM. Text, tables, and figures should be supplied as separate files. It is important to specify in a e-mail message the hardware and the software used in manuscript preparation. Please send also one high-quality laser printer copy of the manuscript via postal mail to the associate editor.

Manuscripts should be written with a font size of 12 and a line-spacing of 1.5, and each page and line should be numbered. Manuscripts should not exceed 20 pages in A4 format, including tables, figures and - except for foreign authors - a Finnish summary.
