About the journal

Acta Geologica Polonica is now (beginning with volume 54(1) for 2004) in the following Thomson ISI products:
Science Citation Index-Expanded (SCIE), including the Web of Science, Current Contents/Physical, Chemical & Earth Sciences, ISI Alerting Services

Acta Geologica Polonica publishes original papers on all aspects of geology. These papers must not have been published or submitted for publication elsewhere, in entirety or in part. The articles should be of moderate length (up to 80 manuscript pages). Longer manuscripts may be accepted but authors should consult the editor before submitting these. Three complete copies of the manuscript and all illustrations should be submitted together with a covering letter confirming the originality of the paper. Manuscripts will be reviewed by two referees and will not be processed further until receipt of favourable referee's reports.

Instructions to Authors

Authors receive one set of proofs (together with the manuscript) from the publisher. The corrected proofs should be sent back to the Editor. If the author(s) requests significant revision at this stage (more than 5% of the text), then a financial contribution to the costs of publication will be required. The author(s) will receive 50 off-prints free of charge. Additional off-prints may be purchased and the off-print order form (sent by the publisher together with the proofs) should be returned with the corrected proofs.

All papers are published in English.

Text:  The manuscript should be written concisely in clear language. The text should be double-spaced, with a 4 cm-wide left-hand margin, on one side of A-4 paper. Captions to text-figures and plates should be written separately at the end of the manuscript. The text should be typed in normal letters; italics are marked with wavy lines and boldface text is underlined. All author's names should be typed in capital letters. In all citations and synonymy lists, the numbers of figures and plates, if originally given in Roman numerals, should be changed into Arabic numerals. Literature references in the text, when given in parentheses, should give the author's surname followed by the year of publication with no comma in between. Use ampersand '&' for two authors and '& al.' for more than two authors. The Systeme Internationale (SI) should be used for all units of measurement. After final acceptance of the manuscript for publication, the text is required as a word-processed file on an IBM-format diskette.

The title page should include:
I. title
II. first name(s) and surname(s) of author(s)
III. affiliations and address(es) of authors [include e-mail addresses when possible]
IV. abstract

Abstracts should be concisely written and should not exceed 200 words.

References should include only papers cited in the text and should correspond to the following examples:

Synonymies should be ordered as follows:

Illustrations: All illustrations (excluding plates) should be numbered in the sequence of their first reference in the text and are labelled as Text-figures (abbreviated Text-fig.). Insertion points for illustrations and plates should be marked in the left-hand margin of the manuscript. Drawings should be made in black on good quality white paper or as a glossy print. Photographic prints must be of good contrast. Including the legend, they should either match the size of a full page (160 ?220 mm), the width of a double column (160 mm), the width of a single column (75 mm), or they must be suitable for reduction to these dimensions. Each illustration should be mounted on a separate sheet of white cardboard. Colour illustrations are acceptable but authors must contact the Editor before submitting the manuscript. After final acceptance of the manuscript, the illustrations, as far as possible, should be submitted as computer files on IBM-format diskette.

Plates: Photographic illustrations may be arranged into a full-page format (160 ?223 mm) and are numbered separately (with Arabic numerals) as Plates (abbreviated Pl.). Photographs in one plate are numbered consecutively from left to right and from top to bottom, and each is referred to as a Figure (e.g. Pl. 1, Fig. 2 or Pl. 3, Figs 4, 5-8). The plates must match the size of the full page (160 ?223 mm) or should be suitable for reduction to these dimensions. Photographic prints must be of good contrast and should be mounted on a white or black background. Colour plates are acceptable without any extra charges but authors must contact the Editor before submitting the manuscript.
