Nonferrous Met. Soc. China ), founded in 1991 and sponsored by The Nonferrous Metals Society of China, is published quarterly and mainly contains reports of original research which reflect the new progresses in the field of nonferrous metals science and technology, including geology, mining, mineral processing, extraction metallurgy, metallic materials and heat treatments, metal working, physical metallurgy, powder metallurgy, machinery, automatization, computer, information and management, with the emphasis on materials science and engineering. It is the unique preeminent publication in English of The Nonferrous Metals Society of China for scientists, engineers, under/post-graduates in the field of nonferrous metals industry.     Two copies of the manuscripts should be submitted to The Editorial Office of  Trans. Nonferrous Met. Soc. China, Central South University, Changsha 410083, P. R. China. The manuscripts, including the abstract, references and captions, should be neatly typed in English, double spaced and one-sided of A4(or B5) white papers with ample margins. They should be proofread by the authors, and not longer than ten printed pages. The authors are requested to submit a 3.5 inch diskette formatted for IBM  PCs and containing the manuscripts (please mention the filenames and the word processing software in the cover letter; to avoid software incompatibility problems, please also include a plain text version of the manuscripts on the diskette).    The abstract should not be less than 100 words in length. It should be self-contained and should be adequate as a summary of the article, namely, it should contain aim and significance, experimental methods and main results and conclusions as well; newly developed conceptions, methods, apparatuses, techniques, and newly discovered facts, particularly. The authors are requested to supply three to eight keywords which should be typed below the abstract.     References in the text should be numbered by superscripts (e.g. "Liu et al[1] reported that..."), and listed on a separate sheet in the following style:     1  Duan Xuechen, Zhang Duomo, Zhao Tiancong. Report of US Bureau of  Mines No.3228, Washington, 1934.     Equations should be neatly typed or clearly written in ink, punctured and aligned to bring out their structure, and numbered on the right. Physical quantities should be printed in italics, and vectors in bold-face italics . For mathematical expressions, the solidus (/) should be used instead of built-up fractions in running text and in display wherever clarity would not be jeopardised. Use "exp" for complicated exponentials.     Photographs should have high contrast. They should be glossy, properly focused and exposed. Those who wish to place two or more photographs side by side are reminded that the column width of this journal is approximately 150 mm. Line drawings should be clear and well designed. The lettering and plotted points should be large enough to be legible after reduction.
