Instructions to Authors

All papers are published in Elektrokhimiya in Russian. Simultaneously with the Russian issue, the Russian朅merican scientific publishing company INTERPERIODICA publishes the Russian Journal of Electrochemistry, which represents a full English translation of Elektrokhimiya.
Authors are requested to follow the rules given below when submitting manuscripts (full length papers, short communications, letters to the Editor, reviews, information, etc.).

(1) Each manuscript should be submitted in two copies to the Editorial Board of the journal (Russia 117071, Moscow, V-71, Leninskii pr. 31, Frumkin Institute of Electrochemistry, Russian Academy of Sciences, Editorial Board). Manuscripts may be submitted as two English copies. In this case, Russian authors should simultaneously submit two Russian copies. Xerox copies can be used as second copies. Manuscripts should be accompanied by

(a) The assignment from the institute with which the author is affiliated (for Russian citizens only);
(b) Information about the author (authors) on a separate sheet: surname, name, address (for correspon-dence), telephone (fax, e-mail) number.

(2) The Journal mainly accepts full length papers, short communications, and letters to the Editor, containing the results of original research, and also reviews on the topical divisions of electrochemistry. The length of contributions including figure captions and the list of references (on separate sheets) should be as follows:

(a) Papers梪p to 20 typed pages and up to 7 figures;
(b) Short communications梪p to ten typed pages and up to four figures;
(c) Letters to the Editor梪p to three typed pages, without figures;
(d) Reviews梪p to 50 typed pages.

Reviews are either commissioned by the Editorial Board or by the authors themselves. In the latter case, the authors must first present an abstract (a detailed plan) of the review, and after it is approved by the Editorial Board, the review itself may be presented.

(3) Elektrokhimiya does not publish discussions on papers as a rule. Publication of discussion papers is only possible as an exception following a special decision of the Editorial Board. In this case, discussion papers should follow the criteria and rules presented below:

(a) Discussion papers should concentrate on the core of the problem considered in the original paper, and the concepts put forward in the discussion paper should have their own scientific value;
(b) The author of the original paper under discussion can reply to the points raised by critical remarks;
(c) The volume of the discussion paper and of the reply should not exceed seven typed pages;
(d) The discussion paper and the reply to it are published simultaneously; and this ends any further discussion;
(e) Discussion on the paper can be published only within a year after the publication of the original paper.
(4) All submitted manuscripts are refereed.

(5) Text Format.

(a) The text of the submitted paper should be thoroughly edited by the authors. Repetitions should be avoided; the questions already illustrated by figures should not be described in too much detail in the text.
(b) The text should be typed with double spacing (approximately 30 lines on a page, 60 signs in a line).
(c) The first page of the manuscript should include the title, the initials and the surname of the author (authors), and the name and address of the institute of affiliation.
(d) The first page of reviews and full length papers (after the name of the affiliation) should include an abstract of up to half of one typed page.
(e) The Editorial Board recommends that authors standardize the structure of manuscripts by using subheadings (for example, INTRODUCTION, FORMULATION OF THE PROBLEM, EXPERIMENTAL, RESULTS AND DISCUSSION, CONCLUSION, REFERENCES, etc.).

(6) Format of formulas in the text.

(a) Formulas should be carefully written in the text in Indian ink or computer-typed.
(b) To avoid confusion and mistakes, the Editorial Board recommends that authors use Latin and Greek letters in formulas.

(7) Figure and table format.

(a) Figures should be drawn on white paper. The figure size should not exceed the standard sheet size.
(b) The reverse side of each sheet with a figure should have a pencil-written number of the figure, the surname of the author (authors), and the beginning of the paper title.
(c) Tables may be either typed in the text or presented on separate sheets. The tables should be numbered; after the number, the heading of the table should be written.
(d) The first mention of a figure or table in the text should be marked on the margins. The mark is made by a pencil and is enclosed in a rectangular frame (for example: , ).
(e) Photographs (used only when essential) should be presented in 3 copies printed on glossy (not matte), high contrast photographic paper.

(8) Format of the list of references.

(a) The references cited in the text should be presented as numbers in brackets.
(b) The list of references should contain all the literature cited, numbered in the order it is referred to in the text.
(c) Citations of journal papers should adhere to the following format:
1. Kazarinov, V.E. and Andreev, V.N., Elektrokhimiya, 1974, vol. 10, p. 1561.
(d) Books and collections of papers should be cited as follows:
2. Karyakin, Yu.V. and Angelov, I.I., Chistye khimicheskie veshchestva, Moscow: Khimiya, 1974.
3. Elektrokhimiya polimerov, Tarasevich, M.R. and Khrushcheva, E.I., Eds., Moscow: Nauka, 1990.

The Editorial Board draws the attention of authors to the fact that nonobservance of the above rules can delay the publication of a manuscript and, in exceptional cases, be a reason for its rejection. Manuscripts rejected by the Editorial Board are returned to the authors only at their request.
