The Russian Journal of Ecology publishes complete original studies in all branches of theoretical and experimental ecology, reviews and papers on topics currently in debate, information about new methods of investigation, book reviews, and chronicles.

The Russian Journal of Ecology is abstracted and/or indexed in Chemical Abstracts; Ecology Abstracts; Geobase/ Geo Abstracts; Wildlife Worldwide.

1. Papers submitted to the journal should be presented by the Institute, in which the work has been performed. The first page should have the following layout:
- Title of the paper
- P. Petrov and V.I. Sidorov (autors)
- Title(s) and address(es) of the Institute(s)
- Abstract (six to eight lines)
- Body of text.
2 Papers should be concise, well edited, and thoroughly checked. Authors should avoid repeating in the text the data that are shown in the tables or figures, as well as presenting the same results in both tabular and graphic forms.
3. Foreign authors may submit manuscripts in English.
4. Authors should submit two typewritten copies of the manuscript typed with a medium-intense font on white A4 sheets. The font should be the same throughout the paper. The size of the manuscript should not exceed 12 pages (including tables, the list of references, and figure captions). The number of figures should be no more than six or seven. The size of short communications should not exceed six pages and two or three figures.
5. Physical and chemical symbols should be printed clearly and accurately. Subscripts and superscripts should by written somewhat below the lower line and above the upper line, respectively. At least 1 cm should be left between the text and the formulas typed in the center of the line, as well as between the formulas.
6 The letters that look similar in the capital and lowercase forms should be marked by two bars below or above, respectively.
7. The list of references should appear in an alphabetical order. References to articles in journals or periodicals should appear in the following order: authors' family names and initials, title of paper, title of journal, year of publication, volume number, issue number, and page numbers. References to books and other nonperiodicals should include: family names and initials of all authors, the full title of the book, city, publisher, year of publication. References in the text should indicate the author's name and the year of publication, e.g. (Ivanov, 1978). References to unpublished materials should be avoided.
8. The manuscript should be signed by all authors. The author's card with the full names of the authors and the Institution address and e-mail indicated should be attached to the manuscript.
9. Figures should be drawn on heavy white paper or tracing paper and should contain the minimum possible number of symbols and denotations. Three copies of each figure should be enclosed. The number of the figure, the authors' names, and the paper title should be indicated on the back-side. Figure captions should be typed on a separate sheet of paper, double-spaced. Inscriptions in the figures should be replaced, where possible, by symbols (digits or letters). Two copies of each illustration should be attached to the manuscript in a separate envelope.
10. Photographs (two copies of each) should be presented on white glossy paper, with TOP-SIDE indicated on the reverse.
11. Each table should be typed on a separate page.
12. Two copies of an abstract for VINITI (All-Russia Institute of Science and Technology Information, which publishes reference journals) should be enclosed. Its size should not exceed one page.
13. The editorial board will appreciate it if a computer version of the manuscript is enclosed on standard DOS-formatted diskette or will send by E-mail (ecology@ipae.uran.ru) (after confirmation about the paper reception). The diskette or the message should contain one text file named by the author's name (Ivanov.doc) in Word processor.
14. Graphs and diagrams may be also enclosed in a computer form as GIF, JPEG or TIF files (on file per figure). | |
