EDITOR-IN-CHIEF:
Vladimir S. Shpak
Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Russian Scientific Center "Applied Chemistry".

SCOPE
Russian Journal of Applied Chemistry (Zhurnal prikladnoi khimii) was founded in 1928. It covers all application problems of modern chemistry, including the structure of inorganic and organic compounds, kinetics and mechanisms of chemical reactions, problems of chemical processes and apparatus, borderline problems of chemistry, and applied research.

Russian Journal of Applied Chemistry is abstracted and/or indexed in Chemical Abstracts; Compendex Chemistry database.

Instructions to Authors

download the file in .pdf format guidelines.pdf

Zhurnal Prikladnoi Khimii publishes original papers devoted to applied problems in various fields of chemistry and chemical technology (inorganic, organic, and physical chemistry, electrochemistry, corrosion and metal protection, basic processes of chemical technology, ecology, biotechnology, sorption and ion exchange).
Papers concerned with the most burning problems are published first. Papers requiring no corrections after refereeing are published within 4-6 months. It is intended that this period of time will be further shortened.
The paper size should not exceed 12-15 typewritten pages, including references and figure captions. The number of figures should not exceed 6 in research papers and 2 in brief communications.
The papers written by request of the Editorial Board to review works in one of the fields of applied chemistry may have volume of up to 40 000 characters.
Zhurnal Prikladnoi Khimii is translated into English (Russian Journal of Applied Chemistry). The papers in the journal are published with indication of establishment(s) where work was carried out.

A GUIDE FOR PREPARATION
OF THE SUBMITTED MANUSCRIPTS

(I) Papers should be submitted in two copies (typed in double line spacing; if possible with a file on a diskette, see paragraph III). The submitted papers must have a cover letter from the establishment(s) at which work was carried out.
The material should be submitted in concise form compatible with clarity of presentation and be carefully edited.
(II) Paper structure must conform to the rules adopted by the journal:
(1) UDK classification (top right). Title of article (no abbreviations are permitted in the title). Name(s) and initials of author(s). Abstract. Name(s) and address(es) of establishments where work was carried out.
(2) Brief introduction explaining the aim of the study and containing necessary references must precede the presentation of the main material.
(3) Experimental is to be set off specially and include the entire preparative and instrumental part of the study.
(4) Conclusions are a brief summary off the paper, in which the experimental and theoretical results of the study are presented in the form of theses that must not coincide with the abstract.
(5) References must be in the numerical system.
(III) The material can be submitted in the form of a typewritten text and figures (on tracing paper) or as text and graphic files on floppy diskettes (5.25 or 3.5", in an IBM PC3compatible format: texts in ASCII codes, graphic data in TIFF or PCX formats). The material on diskettes is to be supplemented with hard copies and figures on paper with necessary notes. In addition, an extended abstract of the paper is to be enclosed.
All pages of the manuscript must be numbered consecutively (text, tables, references, figure captions).
The references and figure captions should be typed on separate pages and placed at the end of the paper.
The clarity of formulas in the text must be irreproachable.
To prevent errors in formula typing, the capital and small letters are to be marked-the former by two dashes below and the latter by two dashes above a letter. Zeros (0) must be specially specified (in the margins of the manuscript), and also Latin letters U and u, V and v, W and w, I and i, C and c, P and p; similarly looking letters should be written extremely carefully: q and g, l, and e, I, J, Y, etc., and a note should be made of Latin numerals I, II, III.
The measurement units are to be given in accordance with the International system of units SI: g, kg, mm (micrometer), nm (nanometer), pm (picometer), s (second), min, h (hour); Hz (hertz), MHz (megahertz), Oe (oersted), Gs (gauss), V (volt), eV (electronvolt), A (ampere), ohm, Pa (pascal), MPa (megapascal), hPa (hectopascal), J (joule), K (kelvin), and °C (degree of Celsius).
The authors should give in the manuscript the dimensionalities of the quantities used, especially those obtained by calculations with the use of unconventional and not generally accepted formulas.
The following abbreviations are to be used: mol, g-equiv, N (normal), M (molar), m (molal); solution concentrations are to be given in g cm-3 , g l-1 , M; bp and mp (boiling and melting points) are given before figures; conc. (concentrated), before the formula of a compound; M is the molecular weight.
The following designations can be used in formulas: Alk for alkyl; Ar, aryl; Ht, heteryl; Hlg, halogen; Me, CH3; Et, C2H5 ; Pr (i-Pr), C3 H7 , Bu (n-Bu, i-Bu, t-Bu), C4H9; Ph, C6H6, Ac, CH3CO; Ms, mesyl; Ts, tosyl; and also the conventional designations of amino acids and protective groups.
(IV) Line illustrations (plots) are to be drawn with Indian ink on high-quality trace (or white) paper and enclosed in duplicate with the manuscript in a separate envelope. Similar curves are to be drawn in the same scale in the same figure. It is recommended that several scales should be used to present different curves in the same figure. The size of the figures must be close to that in printed journal article, but not larger than 10 x 12 cm.
The name(s) of the author(s) and the figure number should to be indicated on each sheet.
Use of structural or other formulas in the figures is undesirable.
The main information concerning the figures must be given in figure captions, with variables (and the dimensionalities of these) plotted on the axes and the curves described.
A figure must bear the minimum possible amount of digits and letters as designations.
Spectrograms, kinetic curves, and other plots are printed directly from the author’s original. Therefore, particular attention should be given to axis designations, choice of the optimal scale, and size of lettering. It is recommended that the figures should be prepared on a personal computer.
Continuous-tone figures (micrographs) are drawn on white glossy paper, must be of high quality, and be only included when absolutely necessary. The micrograph size is to be 5 x 3 cm.
All inscriptions are to be done on one copy of a continuous-tone figure, with no lettering allowed on the other copy. The figures should not be glued to sheets.
(V) In case the paper is returned to the author(s) for revision, the original manuscript is necessarily submitted together with its revised version. If the author(s) delay(s) resubmission by more than a month, the original "received" date is not retained.
In proof-reading, only rectification of errors that appeared in typesetting and minor changes in the text and tables are allowed.
The service and home address(es) and phone number(s) of the author(s) should be indicated.
The above rules are to be followed when submitting a manuscript to Zhurnal Prikladnoi Khimii.
