Instructions to Authors
Instructions for authors Scope Articles of scientific or technical character on aspects of production, processing and use of steels and on general aspects related to these topics.
Language Papers are accepted in English or French.
Length Articles corresponding to 8-10 pages in the journal, i.e. 15-18 pages of double-spaced typed text + 8-10 figures.
Abstracts Two different types of abstracts are required:
a very short abstract (60 to 70 words) giving the key ideas of the article and serving both as "catcher" at the beginning of the article and as summary in the multi-lingual table of contents; it should preferably be written in French and in English; an extended summary of 700 to 800 words (about 70 lines of typewritten text), in English for a French paper and in French for an English paper. Title of the article Title should be provided in French and in English and should not be too long.
Preparation of the text The text should be provided as a plain Word file (PC), with the figures in a separate Power Point file (PC). Files above 5 Mo should be sent on a CD by mail.
Clear style and presentation are required and the organization into paragraphs and sub-paragraphs should be apparent. SI units should be used throughout. Only the mathematical formulae essential for the understanding of the work should be given and they should be correctly typed in view of direct reproduction. Tables (in a limited number) may also be reproduced directly from the author's typed manuscript; they should be of good quality and suitable for some degree of reduction.
Illustrations All the illustrations (figures, photographs, tables) will be accompanied by their bilingual captions (French and English). Drawings and graphs must have a quality remaining legible after an important reduction (avoid lines that are too fine and too small lettering). Favor line drawings. In figures containing several curves, the different curves should be differentiated by a method not making use of colours. Written indications on the figures should be in the same language as the article. Photographs are to be provided positive in black and white and unscreened (one set of unmounted prints).
