About the journal
RESOURCE GEOLOGY
The Society of Resource Geology (formerly The Society of Mining Geologists of Japan) was first founded in 1951 by geoscientists, exploration geologists and mining engineers in Japan. The Society changed its name to the present one in 1992 as its activity became international. The title of the journal changed from Mining Geology to Resource Geology accordingly. Our main official bulletin Resource Geology is an international journal of economic geology, geochemistry and environmental geology with an emphasis on earth sciences of metallic and non-metallic mineral deposits in Asia, Oceania, and the circum-Pacific region. Beginning in January 1998 (Vol. 48), Resource Geology is published quarterly (4 times a year) in English rather than the previous style of mixed English and Japanese languages. The individual subscription rate for the Resource Geology is $40.00US (PDF) per year. The rate is $100.00US for institutions including corporations, university libraries and public sectors. Remittance should be made payable to The Society of Resource Geology, either by VISA, MASTER or AMEX cards (we do NOT accept checks). A Japanese journal Shigen Chishitsu is published twice a year as second official bulletin of the Society. The Shigen Chishitsu also has original articles in Japanese with English abstracts but puts more emphasis on short communications, reviews and resource news. Individuals and institutions can subscribe to both Resource Geology and Shigen Chishitsu as a set of six issues per year at an annual rate of 18,000yen (or $150.00US).
Instructions to Authors
1. General
The journal publishes seven types of manuscripts, original articles, short communications, discussions, review articles, resource news, notes and book reviews. Original articles are the principal mode of reporting research. Short communications are timely papers which report new ideas, methods, discoveries, inventions and so on. Notes are short reports mainly dealing with data presentation which may benefit the community of resource geology. In principle, the maximum acceptable length for original articles and review articles is currently 20 printed pages including tables, figures and references. No page charges are required up to 12 pages; for additional pages \10,000 per page will be charged.
2. Submission of Manuscripts
Three copies of the manuscript should be submitted to the Office of the Society of Resource Geology, by mail with the address: Nogizaka Building, 6-41 Akasaka-9 chome, Minato-ku, Tokyo 107-0052, Japan.
The final version of the text should be sent to the society on MO, CD-ROM, ZIP and/or 3.5 inches floppy disk. Microsoft Word is currently the recommended software. If Word is not available, we ask authors to send their manuscripts as a text file. Both Macintosh and Windows formats are acceptable. Ensure that both the disk and hard copy are identical. Please mark all special characters (italic, bold, subscript, superscript, units such as etc.) and equations in red on the hard copy manuscript.
3. Format
Currently the Journal is only published in English. Manuscripts should be typewritten, double-spaced with margins of at least 3 cm, using one side of an A4 size page (21.0 x 29.7 cm). The standard order for the submitted material is: title page, abstract, text, acknowledgments, references, appendices, figure and table captions, figures and tables. The title page should comprise: the title of the paper / first name(s) and surname(s) of the author(s) / institute(s) / address(es) including phone, fax and e-mail/ key words (up to ten) / shortened title for header (less than 50 characters). If the present address of the authors is different from the institution in which the study of the paper was carried out, the present address should be given as a footnote. In case of more than one author, please indicate to whom the correspondence should be addressed. Abstracts should be clear and concise (less than 600 words) and on a separate A4 size page.
4. Text and References
Three levels of headings can be used: 1. Chapter (left, bold), 1.1. Section (left, italic), 1.1.1. Paragraph (flush left, italic). The use of S.I. units is recommended. References in the text should be quoted as author and year and listed alphabetically in full at the end of the paper. Multi-author papers should be cited in the text using up to two authors; where there are more than two, give the first author, "et al.", and the year. In the reference list, however, all authors must be cited, followed by the year, full title of the article, standard abbreviated title of the journal, volume number and inclusive page numbers.

5. Figures and Tables
All figures and tables should be directly printed or pasted on separate A4 sheets. Figures should be sufficiently clear and large enough to be easily readable after size reduction. The final size is limited to within one printed A4 size page. Clear photocopies of figures and photographs are acceptable during the first submittal for review.
An orientation marker and scale bar must be included on maps. A scale bar must also be included in photographs and photomicrographs. Color illustrations will be accepted, however the authors will be charged an additional cost. Tables are to be printed on separate sheets ready for reproduction. Each figure and table must have a short, precise caption. Captions should be listed on a separate sheet following the references. The positions of the figures and tables should be indicated on the hard copy text in red.
