About the journal
RAIRO-THEORETICAL INFORMATICS AND APPLICATIONS
The journal publishes original research papers of high scientific level in the area of theoretical computer science and its applications. Theroretical computer science is understood in its broadest sense and comprises in particular the following areas: automata and formal languages, rewriting systems, design and analysis of algorithms, complexity theory, quantum computation, concurrent, distributed, parallel computations, verification of programs, l-calculus, combinatorial logic, temporal logic, attribute grammars and compilers, computational geometry and graphics on computers, cryptography. This list is not supposed to be exhaustive and the editorial board will promote new fields of research that will be worked out in the future.
ITA is a section of RAIRO, Revue d'Automatique, d'Informatique et de Recherche Op閞ationnelle. RAIRO is an international journal devoted to high-level pure and applied research on the use of scientific methods and information processing in business and industry

Instructions to Authors
Instructions for authors
1. The submission stage Authors are encouraged to submit their manuscripts electronically through the web (Inquiry System) at: https://articlestatus.edpsciences.org/is/ita/ Authors can eventually submit their manuscript via e-mail, but only through the Editorial Office at: ita@edpsciences.orgThis e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it Global resulting Postscript or PDF files of articles are preferred. They should however be carefully tested for printing and compressed before submission. English is highly recommended. French is also accepted. Articles written in French must include an English translation of the title, the abstract and all figure and table captions. The new macro package in LateX2e, designed for RAIRO-ITA, is available via anonymous ftp from: ftp.edpsciences.org in the directory /pub/ita/
Electronic-only material Electronic-only material is designed to provide supplementary information that is either too voluminous for printing or that is designed specifically for the Web, such as illustration in colour. Electronic-only material may include but is not restricted to:
?(Large) tables ?Appendices ?Programmes ?Images
For more information on the submission of this material (file requirements, etc.), please contact us.
2. The acceptance stage
Once accepted by the editor who received the manuscript, the Editorial Office will send an acceptance letter to the corresponding author. In order to accelerate the publishing process, the authors are encouraged to send all pieces of the manuscript available in electronic form (TeX, LaTeX, Figures in eps) to the Editorial Office.
If authors cannot provide an electronic file of their text, they must advise the production department as soon as they receive the acceptance letter, to avoid any delay in the beginning of the production process.
3. The galley proof correction stage
A proofs in PDF format will be sent to the corresponding author. They should be carefully corrected and returned to the publisher within 48 h of reception.
Corrections of the proofs by the authors should be unambiguous.. The TeX and LaTeX files possibly sent by the authors at the acceptance stage, might be modified by the production department to follow general presentation rules of the journal. So the main purpose of proof reading is to correct errors that may have occurred during the production process but is not to modify the content of the paper. The reproduction of artwork, the layout of the pages and equation breakings introduced by the production staff should carefully be checked. Corrections that might lead to a change in the page layout should be avoided.
The galley proofs, once corrected, should be signed and returned to the publisher within 3 days after reception.
Offprint orders
The offprint order form must be filled out and returned together with the corrected proofs. If the publisher receives no order of any kind from the authors, it will be assumed that only the 25 free offprints are requested.
4. Style guide
Title, Abstract
Title should be simple and informative. A shortened version of the title consisting of a maximum of 50 characters (including spaces) for running headers should also be provided. Abstracts in English/French written as single paragraphs should accompany each manuscript. They should be completely self-contained and should not contain any bibliographic references. Their length should not exceeding 200 words.
Author(s) name(s) and affiliations
A list of all authors, as well as corresponding addresses, should be provided. Addresses should contain all information necessary for an effective mail delivery.
E-mail, fax and telephone numbers should also be provided to speed up communication between Editorial Office, readers and authors.
Mathematics Subject Classification scheme
Each manuscript must be assigned indexing codes. MSC numbers, developed jointly by the American Mathematical Society and Zentralblatt, may be found at the URL's: http://www.ams.org/msc/ and http://www.emis.de/msc2000.html. Keywords are also required.
Main body of the paper
Equations, Lemma, Theorem?are numbered with the section: for example, equation 3 of Section 1, is equation (1.3). Check displayed equations carefully, making sure they are well-broken and well-aligned.
References
References should be cited numerically in the text (for example, [1], [2,5,7], [8-10]). All references must be labelled. Items in the bibliography are ordered alphabetically by authors. For journal names, follow the "Abbreviations of Names of Serials" reviewed in Mathematical reviews (Mathematical Reviews Annual Index, American Mathematical Society). Examples for Journals, Books, Conference Proceedings and Doctoral dissertations, respectively,
[1] R. Brown and C. Green, Finite Element Method for Navier-Stokes Equation. RAIRO: Theoret. Informatics Appl. 44 (1998) 123-144.
[2] J.R. Brown and F. Smith, Finite Element Method for Navier-Stokes. Equation. RAIRO: Theoret. Informatics Appl. (to appear).

[5] J.M. Smith, Finite Element Method for Navier-Stokes Equation, Ph.D. Thesis. University of Paris XI, France (1990).
Figures
Each figure should be cited in the text. Good-quality figures have the following characteristics:
They should be produced with a good quality laser printer and have lines, letters, numbers and symbols of uniform strength and contrast. Authors should avoid including any unnecessary text around a figure, such as captions, figure numbers, author or file names. These indications should be handwritten on the back or at the bottom of the original figures. Parts of diagrams, graphs, ... should be clearly indicated by different types of hatching. Grey scales, which might get difficult to distinguish after reducing, or which often disappear during the printing process, should be avoided. Also, parts a, b, c, etc. of a figure should be in separate files. In the paper version of the journal, figures are in black and white (for color, authors should make a contribution, prices on request), but they appear in colour in the electronic version.
