About the journal
QUEST
|
For those in the physical activity field in higher education, there is no single journal that covers more topics of common interest than Quest. Each issue examines not only critical issues facing physical educators, but also research developments in the sport sciences and other subdisciplines of human movement. You抣l find a similar variety in the types of articles in Quest, too, from theoretical explorations to applied studies, both of which synthesize research to help advance the physical activity field.Subscribe or Renew online! |

Instructions to Authors
Submission Guidelines, Quest
In preparing manuscripts for publication in Quest, authors should adhere to the guidelines provided in the Publication Manual for the American Psychological Association, (5th edition, 2001). Copies can be found in most university libraries, or may be obtained through the APA Order Dept., P.O. Box 92984, Washington, DC 20090-2984. (www.apa.org/books). Tel: 800-374-2721.
Manuscripts should not ordinarily exceed 40 pages in length. All articles must be preceded by an abstract of 100-120 words. The manuscript must be double-spaced, including the abstract and references. Reference citations in the text must match those in the reference list and must be accurate concerning dates of publication and spelling of author names. Footnotes must be kept to a minimum, both in number and length; they should not exceed 5 or 6 lines each. All figures must be professionally prepared and camera ready; freehand or typewritten lettering will not be accepted. Before submitting manuscripts, authors are expected to check carefully so that nothing was left out which will need to be inserted during the correction stage.
Three copies of the manuscript, including the original, must be submitted to the editor, John M. Dunn, Office of the Provost and Vice Chancellor, Anthony Hall 125, MC 4305, Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, IL 62901-4305. Manuscripts should also be submitted electronically as an e-mail attachment compatible with Microsoft Word (for PC) to jmdunn@siu.edu. Manuscripts should not be submitted to another journal at the same time. Authors are advised to check carefully the typing of the final copy and to retain a copy in case of loss in the mail. Manuscripts are read by two members of the Quest Editorial Board, with the review process taking from 4 to 6 weeks. There are no page charges to contributors. Authors of manuscripts accepted for publication must transfer copyright to the National Association for Physical Education in Higher Education.
A blind review process is used to evaluate manuscripts. With each copy of the manuscript, authors are requested to submit a cover sheet including the title of the manuscript, the name of the author(s), institutional affiliation(s), running head, date of manuscript submission, and full mailing address and telephone number of the author to receive the galleys. The first page of the manuscript should omit the author's name and affiliation, but include the title of the manuscript and the date of submission. Every effort should be made to ensure that the manuscript itself contains no clue to the author's identity.
