PHYSICS OF LOW-DIMENSIONAL STRUCTURES (PLDS) международный журнал
для быстрых публикаций работ в области высоковакуумных технологий,
физики атомарных кластеров, поверхностей, границ раздела, гетероструктур,
наноструктур и т.д.
PLDS публикует статьи относящиеся к оригинальным экспериментальным
и теоретическим исследованиям, а также обзорные статьи по "горячим"
направлениям исследований в упомянутых областях.
Подписка. Подписная цена за 12 номеров журнала в 1997 году
составляет 340 $ для институтов и библиотек и 180 $ для индивидуальных
подписчиков. Цена за рассылку за год 50 $. Данная цена включает

Instructions to Authors
PHYSICS OF LOW-DIMENSIONAL STRUCTURES (PLDS) is an international
journal for rapid publication of papers in the field of
solid state sciences and ultra-high vacuum technologies dealing with
atomic clusters, chains, surfaces, interfaces, overlayers,
heterostructures, nanostructures etc. PLDS publishes papers
concerned with original, experimental and theoretical research
as well as review articles;
however, PLDS accepts short versions of important papers
submitted to national journals.
It is thought that the rapid progress
in the ultra-high vacuum technology and investigations of different
low-dimensional atomic and electronic structures accompanied by
a drastic growth of the corresponding scientific community is a strong
argument in favor of this new international journal.
SUBSCRIPTION. The subscription prices for 12 volumes of 1997 are
institutions and libraries and (ii) $ 180 for individuals. For air mail
please add $ 50. The prices include postage and insurance. The

Claims for issues not received should be made within six months of
publication. Otherwise they cannot be honored free of charge.
To speed up publication, the journal is sometimes published in double
issues including two volumes as soon as sufficient number of papers
are accepted.

Although being an
international publication, PLDS will have a special program for
the next three years (1994-1996) to serve as a ``bridge'' assisting
scientists of the former Soviet Union (FSU) in their attempts to join
international scientific community. In particular, there will be a
special fund to assist FSU scientists in manuscripts preparations to
publish papers in English in PLDS.

Правила для авторов по оформлению статей
Рукописи должны направляться главному редактору или региональным
редакторам в трех экземплярах на английском языке.
Издатель не несет ответственности за ущерб, который могут нанести
используемые методы или идеи, содержащиеся в рукописи.
Рукописи должны представляться в машинописном виде
на белой бумаге стандартного формата с печатью черным цветом
через полтора интервала и с обязательными полями справа и слева
не менее двух с половиной сантиметров.
Статья должна содержать название, фамилии авторов с инициалами,
полное название и адрес организации, где выполнена работа.
Аннотация обязательна и должна содержать не более 150 слов.
Кроме почтового адреса к статье должны прилагаться адрес электронной
почты (E-mail) и номер факса, если таковые имеются.
Таблицы, рисунки и подписи к ним должны быть выполнены на отдельных
листах. На обратной стороне должны быть указаны номера таблиц и
рисунков.
Рисунки должны быть представлены в оригинальной форме. Ксерокопии
рисунков не допукаются. Обращаем внимание авторов, что рисунки
воспроизводятся прямым копированием с возможным уменьшением (до
50%), если это необходимо. Просьба к авторам использовать подходящий
(пропоциональный размеру самого рисунка) размер шрифтов для подписей
в самих рисунках. Использование матричного принтера для рисунков не
допускается. Просьба к авторам использовать только лазерный принтер.
Ссылки в тексте статьи должны быть пронумерованы. Список литературы
должен быть выпонен на отдельном листе/листах
с указанием инициалов и фамилий авторов, названия журнала,
тома, года публикации и первой страницы статьи. Например :

Рукописи отклоненных статей не возвращаются.
Кроме машинописного варианта рукописи необходима также версия
рукописи в электронном виде (в стандарном формате LaTex).

Журнал Physics of Low-Dimensional Structures публикует также
обзорные статьи по "горячим" направлениям исследований, а также
труды конференций, семинаров и т.д.
Журнал публикует также обзоры книг, объявления о научных

Авторам бесплатно высылаются 25 экземпляров репринтов статьи.

Submission of papers
Manuscripts should be submitted to the Editor-in-chief or Regional Editors
in triplicate.
No responsibility is assumed by the Publisher for any injury and/or damage
to property as a matter of products liability, negligence or otherwise,
or from any use or operation of any methods, products, instructions or
ideas contained in the materials herein.
Manuscripts should be typed one and half spaced on
standard size white paper using type writer with a black ribbon with
at least one inch margins at all sides.
The paper should include the title, authors' names, and full
institution address, and an abstract of no more than 150 words.
Please indicate your e-mail address and FAX number (if available).
Main section headings and subheadings are optional.
Use arabic numbers for main section headings.
Do not underline the headings. Leave a single space between
the headings and the text that precedes and follows them.
Figures and large tables should be submitted on separate sheets
as original drawings.
Captions should be printed on separate
sheets as well. Write figure number and authors names on back of
each figure using pencil.
PLEASE TAKE INTO ACCOUNT THAT FIGURES AND TABLES WILL BE
REPRODUCED BY DIRECT COPYING WITH REDUCTION IN SIZE (up to 50%)
IF NECESSARY. Please choose appropriate size for lettering.
PLEASE DO NOT USE DOT MATRIX PRINTERS.
Please mark vectors in formulas with a wavy underline or type them in
bold face and pay special attention to characters which can be easily misrea
("l" (el) and "1" (one), etc.)
References in the text should be numbered
and listed on a separate sheet indicating the author, journal, volume,
year of publication in brackets, and the number of the first page.
Please ensure that authors' names are typed with the initials first,
as in the following example:

To speed up publication, proofs will be read by the Publisher, unless
the author specifically requests proofs to be sent to him.
We would very much appreciate receiving an e-mail version of the
manuscript (preferably in the LaTeX format, but even a plain ASCII file
containing only the text without any formulas, etc. will do)
in addition to the printed manuscript. The e-mail version should be sent
directly to the Editor-in-chief simultaneously with the printed manuscript.
This will ensure rapid publication of your paper (within a few months
after receiving it by the publisher).
The journal PLDS will also publish topical collections of papers, for
instance, proceedings of conferences, seminars etc.
Reviews of books, announcements of scientific events, analysis of new
important technological developments, etc. will also be published in
the satellite informational collections.
Publication of papers in the journal PLDS is free of charge. 25
reprints of the article will be supplied free of charge.
