Authors of papers from other institutions in the Philippines pay PhP 1,000 per paper accepted for publication exclusive of printing cost of color photographs; from other institutions outside the Philippines US $200 exclusive of the printing cost of color photographs. All papers undergo blind peer review. The section editor and finally the editor-in-chief then add their comments. The list of reviewers will be published in the last issue of the volume. (Claims for missing issues shoudl be made within six months from the date of dispatch.) Articles may be papers and notes on original fundamental or applied research and, to a limited extent, critical research reviews, professorial chair lectures or book reviews on tropical agricultural science and related areas, including agroecosystems, food science, engineering, biotechnology, economics, extension, rural sociology, development communication and agroforestry. Instructions to Authors   You are welcome to submit a technical paper for publication in any issue of this journal on a subject of your expertise in research and development in the broad field of agriculture. Prepare 4 copies of the manuscript on 21.6- by 27.9-cm. (8 1/2- by 11-inch) bond paper. Number pages consecutively, inlcuding tables and captions for figures. Entry at the bottom right of each page should indicate also the total number of pages; thus, the entry reads, for example: "Page 1 of 13 pages". The manuscript should be typed double-space in 12-point type, preferably in Times New Roman font, including text, quotations, table titles, captions, and footnotes. Margins should be at least 4.0 cm from the left and 2.5 cm from the top, bottom and right-hand sides of each page. The customary paragraph indentation is 5 spaces. Send copies of the manuscript to the Editor. Submit copies of the manuscript to the Editor together with a certification from a language editor that the manuscript has been edited. Articles must neither be previously nor simultaneously submitted in any journal nor published elsewhere except in a preliminary form. Each article should not be more than 30 pages including tables and figures. Longer articles may be published at the author's expense. Articles must contribute significantly to the advancement of knowledge or toward better understanding of scientific concepts in tropical agriculture and related fields.  A 2-6 page paper (including tables and figures) can be submitted as research note to report on new disease or insect infestations, potential of a technology or crop, introduction or propagation of a crop or technology, routinary test such as fertilizer, technology, feed, variety, hybrids or cropping schemes; novel and important findings warranting immediate publication but not justified as a full length paper. A list of cited references may or may not be included. The format of a research note is different from that of a full length article in that there are no subtopics. Review papers and professorial chair lectures are up-to-date accounts of current advances in an important area of research. Review papers and professorial chair lectures should have strong technical bases. They should survey and discuss recent developments in a field, cite local studies, and interpret the scientific information given. Authors of these papers should have published at least 2 articles on the subject in a refereed journal or should be recognized authorities in their field of specialization. Please submit a previously scanned and virus-free computer disk (3.5" HD disk) containing the final version of the paper together with the final manuscript that has been accepted for publication by the referees. Submit a hard copy of the manuscript that exactly matches the disk file. Documents should preferably be in Word for Windows 95 or 97 format. Otherwise, specify the computer and the type of software that has been used and keep a back-up copy of the disk. Page proofs are given to authors after the manuscripts have been typeset. The editors take no responsibility for inaccuracy on the part of the author.
