Submission of articles The original article should be sent to the editor with a letter signed by all the authors with the following information: complete name, professional background, academic degree, complete work address, and e-mail of the authors; indication of the author responsible for correspondence; focus on the original aspect of the article; indication of technical field covered; declaration stating no submission of article to other journals; indication of four specialists who could assess the document, with their respective complete address. The text of articles should be organized, whenever possible, as Title, Authors, Abstract, Index terms, Footnotes, Introduction, Material and Methods, Results and Discussion, Conclusions, Acknowledgements and References. 2. The manuscript should have no more than 20 pages sequentially numbered, and be presented in the following order: text, legends, tables and figures. The Abstract, References, illustrations and list of figure legends should be printed on separate pages. 3. The text should be typed in Word, using double spacing, Times New Roman font, size 12, and be sent in four copies printed on A4 paper, together with a copy in floppy disk. Three copies should not display the name of the authors, the footnote on the first page and the item Acknowledgements. 4. The figures should not display data included in tables. They should be prepared to provide good graphic reproduction and be 7.2 cm or 14.8 cm wide. The figures should be saved in diskettes, in Word, to enable eventual corrections when editing. Figures prepared using other software should be inserted in a Word file, using the tool "copy and paste" and the font Symbol. The key used should be included in the area of the figure or between the title and the figure. 5. Photographs should be scanned with 300 dpi and saved as files different from the text. Structure of articles 1. The title, should have 15 words, at most, and be in small case letters. After the last word, the first footnote number should be added, in parentheses, indicating date of approval. 2. The name and surname of the authors should be written using capital letters only for the first letter. Include a footnote after the surname of each author, indicating work address and e-mail. The authors from the same institution should be included in a single footnote. 3. The abstract should have no more than 200 words; if the article is written in Portuguese, the Abstract should be an accurate translation. 4. Index terms - a minimum of three and a maximum of six and they should not be included in the title. 5. The conclusions should be written using the verbs in the present tense, in short sentences, with no additional comments and be based on the objectives of the article. 6. The references should comply with NBR 6023, of August/2000 - ABNT; they should have the name of all authors in alphabetical order. The references should include mainly articles in journals published in the past ten years, and follow the example: CARVALHO, L. P. de; MOREIRA, J. de A. N. Citations of works mentioned in abstracts, in press publications and personal communication will not be accepted in preparation of articles.  Additional information 1. The Editor, assisted by the scientific advisory board, is entitled to suggest or require reasonable changes in the articles. 2. The authors assume total responsibility for opinions and concepts given in the articles. 3. The manuscripts accepted should not be reproduced, even if partially, without the expressed consent of the journal. 4. Further information on preparation of manuscripts to be sent to the journal is provided by the Editor, if asked by the interested party. 5. Twenty reprints of the published article should be given for free.
