About the journal
Paperi ja Puu - Paper and Timber
Paperi ja Puu - Paper and Timber is published by the Finnish Paper and Timber Journal, Publishing Company. The journal was established in 1919 under the name Suomen Paperi- ja Puutavaralehti/Finsk Pappers- och Trävarutidskrift. Paperi ja Puu - Paper and Timber is bilingual: articles are published either in Finnish or in English.

Paperi ja Puu - Paper and Timber is the only trade journal of the Finnish pulp and paper and mechanical wood-processing industries and a scientific and technical publication.
Paperi ja Puu - Paper and Timber publishes articles about future trends, production and export statistics, company and mill features, news, and machinery and equipment descriptions. Each issue deals with some aspects of the related technology and has an English summary "About this issue".
Instructions to Authors Scientific papers are peer-reviewed. On the articles that are accepted for publication, the author will later receive page proofs for correction and approval.
Manuscript preparation
Title: The title should give a concise indication of the content and be easily identifiable when used in bibliographies and publications.
Names and addresses of authors
Abstract: All contributions should be accompanied by an abstract in English. If a Finnish abstract is available, it should be submitted.
Keywords: The author should provide 5-7 keyword to describe the article.
Main text: Structure should follow a logical and clear plan. All reason for the work and its relation to similar previous works should be stated. Methods and techniques should be described in such a way that they may be easily repeated by the reader. Results and discussions as well as recommendations should preferably be treated separately. A section "Terms and definitions" may be placed immediately after the introduction.
Use mainly primary and secondary headings, only if necessary use tertiary headings. Do not use enumerated headings or paragraphs, but make sure the hierarchy of the headings is unambiguous.
Figures and tables: Photographs, graphs, diagrams, maps etc should be numbered consecutively and provided with explanatory captions. Example: Fig. 1. Effect of bark on bleaching.
Tables should be numbered and titled. Example: Table 1. Bleaching results.
All illustrations and tables should be referred to in the text to indicate their position in the manuscript. When referring to an illustration or table use "Fig. 1" or "Table 1".
Place Figure and Table captions in the end of the text after References and Annexes. Do not place Figures and Tables in the text but present them separately on different sheets.
Authors are responsible for permission to reproduce any cited figures.
Equations: All equations that have their own line should be numbered.
References: A reference list related to citations in the main text should be placed at the end of the contribution before annexes. References should be listed in the order of appearance and they should be referred to as numbers in slash parenthesis in the main text, Example: /21/
In the reference list follow the principles below:

Annexes: Annexes should be placed at the end of the text after references and should be designated by an annex number and a subject title.
Submission:
All manuscripts must be submitted in hard copy. After review process is complete, a PC software version should be provided (file formats: for the text WordPerfect 7 or older, MS Word 7 or older, for the tables ASCII and for the figures .eps or .tif.). Please send also good hard copies of the figures.
