The journal serves as a refereed publication outlet and accepts manuscripts on all aspects of the biosystematics of insects and closely related arthropods, especially articles dealing with their taxonomy, biology, behavior, ecology, life history, biogeography and distribution. Membership in the Pacific Coast Entomological Society includes subscription to The Pan-Pacific Entomologist, and Society Proceedings typically appear in the October issue of each volume. About the journal FOR CONTRIBUTORS.pdf Instructions to Authors Author Please Note Prior to submitting manuscripts to the Managing Editor, authors should please read the details on Electronic Submission, Instructions for Contributors, and Common Format Errors! and authors who are preparing the final files AFTER formal acceptance should read the Final File Preparation Guide. Manuscripts that are not properly formatted will be returned prior to review process. New Electronic Submission Requirements From 2April 2004, the new Editorial Board will request that authors submit manuscripts in electronic format, preferably via e-mail attachments, or in lieu of e-mail attachments, electronic media (e.g. CD Rom, zip disk, floppy disk) should be sent to the Managing Editor (here). See link to New Instructions for Contributors below. The Editorial Board also requests from all authors that a list of at least three potential reviewers, along with their respective postal and e-mail addresses, be submitted with all manuscripts. The Editorial Board expects that manuscripts submitted via e-mail attachment or electronic media can be reviewed more quickly and such a format will save the PCES both time and resources, e.g. postal and copying costs. In addition, the costs of preparing and printing The Pan-Pacific Entomologist are reduced by going digital. Eventually the charges that PCES pays for the typing of hard-copy manuscripts and subsequent formatting will be passed along to authors who do not conform to these electronic submission requirements Text should be sent either in Word, RTF or Word Perfect format.Manuscript review using the Track Changes option in MS Word will greatly expedite the review and correction sequence.   For long manuscripts, or especially for those with a large number of illustrations, it is suggested that all illustrations be gathered together as one PDF file for the purposes of review. Illustrations should be submitted as 300-dpi TIFF files for final files and all illustrations/graphics should be grouped into a single PDF file for the review process.  More submission details please see the PDF file below.
