The journal Oceanologia publishes original papers on marine research with the emphasis on fundamental aspects. Papers dealing with processes in the marine environment are preferred to purely descriptive ones; they should contribute to the understanding of the functioning of marine ecosystems, including their abiotic aspects. All scripts received will be reviewed by the editors and at least two independent experts. The scripts should be written in good, scientific English. Every effort will be made to expedite publication. Oceanologia is an international quarterly open to all contributors. Please note: the full texts of all articles published in Oceanologia will be accessible on the Internet on the Oceanologia home page. Submission of an article for publication in Oceanologia will therefore be understood as consent on the part of the author(s) for its publication both in Oceanologia and on the Internet as indicated above.
The LAYOUT of the article should be as follows:
a title page bearing the name(s), affiliation(s) and correspondence address(es) of the author(s) with e-mail and, if applicable, the grant support should be appended as a footnote;
an Abstract of no more than 100 words - a resum?of the subject, results and conclusion - followed by 3-5 keywords (indexing terms);
Introduction - containing a formulation of the subject, a statement on its current stage of development and a clear definition of the aim of the paper;
Material and methods - the description must be sufficiently detailed to enable the procedure to be reproduced by other researchers;
Results - only the author's own results should be given under this heading;
Discussion - a comparison of the author's results with those of other workers, an elucidation of theoretical and logical aspects, deductions and conclusions etc.;
Acknowledgments;
References.
In general, papers should be limited to 16 printed pages (text dimensions: 12.6 cm x 19.7 cm, with single space; font: 11 point type, Times Roman typeface), including figures, references etc. Three(3) hard copies of the paper should be submitted to the Editor at: Editorial Office, Inst. FIGURES and other illustrative material must be suitable for high-quality reproduction. All figures should also be included on a diskette in one of the vector formats available through the use of programs like CorelDraw, Excel, SigmaPlot, Surfer, Statistica etc. CDR (v.7-11) and WMF formats are preferred.
REFERENCES should be listed on a separate sheet in alphabetical order of authors' names. In the text they should be referred to by name and year, the year being placed in parentheses, e.g.
when a work by more than two authors is referred to, the name of the first author should be followed by "et al." At the end of the text the names and initials of all authors should be given;
for periodicals: the title in accordance with the World List of Scientific Periodicals, the volume number, and the first and last page numbers of the paper are required, e.g.
Smith W. L., 1956, Note of the relationship between total precipitable water and surface dew point, J. Appl. Meteor., 5, 726?27;
for books: the publisher's name, the place of publication and the number of pages should be given, e.g.

References which concern unpublished data should not be entered in the list; a work accepted for publication should be referred to as `in press1`.
