About the journal
MAYDICA
MAYDICA (founded by L.Fenaroli in 1956 and renewed in the actual form in 1989) publishes quarterly original paper in the field of genetics, molecular biology, biochemistry, physiology, breeding and agronomy of maize and allied species.
Instructions to Authors
1. MANUSCRIPTS: manuscripts should be written in English, typewritten in double space and submitted in duplicate. For setting out titles, subdividing the text, laying out tables, and literature, the Authors are refered to a current copy of the journal. In addition, the Title Page should include the authors’ full names and affiliations, a running title of 45 characters or less, and the phone and FAX number of the corresponding author.
2 . ABSTRACTS: an abstract, as concise as possible, should be given at the beginning of the paper following the title.
3. KEY WORDS: a list of 3-4 key words is to be provided at the end of abstract.
4. SCIENTIFIC NOMENCLATURE: gene and mathematical symbols, scientific names (genus, species and variety where appropriate) should be underlined to be italicized when they appear in the text. The same applies to any other word to be italicized. For abbreviations the directions given in "Chemical Abstracts" should be followed.
5. ILLUSTRATIONS: illustrations must be submitted on separate sheets. The legends should be listed in an appendix at the end of the paper. An indication of the desired linear scale of reduction should be written on back of illustrations, along with name of author and number of the illustration. Drawings for reproduction should be at least two times as large as the printed size. Photographs should be furnished as glossy positive prints. The approximate position of tables and illustrations in the text should be indicated in the typescript.
6. RUNNING TITLE: a concise four or five words (45 characters or less) running title should be provided.
7. PROOFS: galley proofs only will be sent for correction to the Authors. With the exception of minor clerical errors, no changes will be made in the manuscript at the proof stage.
8. REPRINTS: twenty-five reprints of each paper are provided free of charge.
9. ACCEPTANCE: the acceptance of manuscripts is on the basis of referee opinions.
10. DISKETTES: authors must submit their accepted manuscripts prepared with a DOS or Machintosh wordprocessing program, on double-density or high-density diskettes in either 3.5 or 5.25 - inch format. To aid incorporation of electronic table and figures, the Editorial Office must also have hard-copy originals.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS - The aim of Maydica is to print significant research on maize and allied species. To succeed Maydica Editors must recognize what is significant; they have to be sure that the manuscripts submitted are accurate, original and clear. For this they depend greatly on the Editorial Board, whose components perform the necessary service without reward. The standard of the journal cannot be better than the quality of their efforts. The Editors are sincerely grateful to all members of the Editorial Boards, past and present.
