About the journal

The JSME International Journal provides advanced scientific and technological information for the mechanical engineering industry to facilitate the international exchange and transfer of technology. The Journal is published quarterly in three series in order to achieve these goals. Each series contains original papers, review papers and a selection of English translations of Japanese papers published in the Transactions of the JSME.

Series Acovers all aspects of solid mechanics and material engineering, including structural analysis of solids and structures, failure and fracture mechanics, properties of materials, materials processing analyses and so on. The current topics of interest are the experimental stress analyses, new algorithms in computational mechanics, biomechanics, molecular dynamics, correlation between microscopic behavior of materials and their macroscopic properties, and processing and properties of advanced materials as well as existing materials

Instructions to Authors
Below is the "INFORMATION  FOR AUTHORS".
Make the manuscript  in accordance with this guide.

1.  Originality
Papers submitted must be original, and previously unpublished.

2.  Language and Units
The language of the Journal is English and the units used are SI.

3.  Receiving Date
The date of receipt of the manuscript is the date of its arrival at the society's office.

4.  Acceptance
Acceptance or rejection of submitted papers will be based on and determined by the refereeing standards of the Journal's editorial committee.

5.  Responsibility for Contents
The responsibility for the contents of published articles rests solely with the authors and not the society.

6.  Page Charge
A charge of \10,000 (or equivalent in US$) per printed page will be invoiced to the author or the author's designated institution. 50 reprints will be provided to the leading author following  publication and receipt of payment.

7.  Length of Paper
The manuscript should be prepared in 6500-9000 words including figures and tables (approximately 6-8 pages in printed form).

8.  Manuscript
Type manuscripts using A4 (21㎝ × 30 ㎝) or 8.5 inch×11 inch sheets. One typed page should contain 26 lines with approximately 65 letters per line. When this guideline is followed, three type-written pages will make up one printed page.
Sample Layout:
1st page : Title, names of authors, affiliation and address, key words, and e-mail address
2nd  page : Abstract of less than 150 words
3rd page and following pages : Text

The text should be arranged in the following manner : Introduction, Nomenclature,Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion Acknowledgments, References, Figures and Tables.

9.  Style
Use short paragraphs wherever possible. Express ideas clearly, and avoid using slang. Abbreviations should be explained in the text. If many abbreviations are used, a table of abbreviations should be included.

10.  Mathematical Expressions
All mathematical expressions should be numbered in parentheses and typed. Symbols not  available on the typewriter should be carefully inserted.

11.  Figures
Drawings for figures must be submitted on separate sheets, drawn in black India ink and carefully lettered and also the lettering be proportionate so that it does not become illegible or unclear after reduction by the printers. The appropriate placement of each figure in the text  should be indicated in the margin and equations be contained to one column in width.

12.  References
References should be typed, double-spaced, on a separate sheet following this example:

(1)  Fuller, E.W. and Stoessel, R.F., Factory Automation, Mech. Eng., Vol.109, No. 3 (1987), p.42-45.
(2)  Akasaka, T., Shibuya, K. and Shinjuku, T., Automotive Electronics, Trans. Jpn. Soc. Mech. Eng., (in Japanese), Vol. 53, No. 785, A (1987), p.340-346.
13.  Copyright
Copyright of the materials published in the Journal belongs to the JSME.

14.  Submission of Manuscripts
Send three copies of your manuscript to:

JSME International Journal provides
cutting-edge scientific and technological information

Modern industries are currently facing massive changes in responding to the demands of the times, such as the borderless economy, global environmental issues and an aging society. Since engineers and researchers must solve the many difficult technical problems related to such changes, they are always in need of the most recent information and knowledge of cutting-edge technology.

Advanced research and development in mechanical engineering and related fields have been continuously and actively conducted to create new industries for the 21st century in Japan. The Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers (JSME) is one of the leading professional societies in Japan and has a membership of more than 45,000. JSME is taking on the challenges of becoming a fully networked society that can respond to its members’ needs in a flexible and timely manner. JSME publishes a monthly English journal, the JSME International Journal, that offers the most up-to-date technical information on the latest advances in mechanical engineering to engineers and researchers around the world. Furthermore, JSME International Journal provides advanced scientific and technological information for the mechanical engineering industries to facilitate the international exchange and transfer of technology.

The JSME International Journal started in 1958 and has been holding its position as one of the most valuable sources of technical information on the research and development of mechanical engineering science and technology in Japan, Asia-Pacific regions and also all the world.

The JSME International Journal is published quarterly in three series: Series A: Solid Mechanics and Material Engineering, Series B: Fluids and Thermal Engineering, and Series C: Mechanical Systems, Machine Elements and Manufacturing. The editors of each series are responsible for soliciting high-quality papers for their series in the Journal. The Journal consists mainly of original papers that have been accepted after rigorous technical peer reviews, and also includes a selection of English translations of Japanese papers published in the transactions of the JSME. In addition, special review articles on recent research developments are solicited by the editors. Furthermore, the Journal encourages the publication of special issues for international conferences related to mechanical engineering. All the papers selected through preliminary screening are subjected to a peer review process. Once accepted, the papers are handled expeditiously and generally published much more promptly than in other comparable high-quality journals.

Since the JSME International Journal provides the opportunity to gain and present authentic and insightful scientific and technological information on the latest advances in mechanical engineering, it is a most valuable information source for mechanical engineers and researchers around the world. We are looking forward to your contributions and subscription to the JSME International Journal.
