About the journal
The Journal of the Experimental Analysis of Behavior (JEAB) is published by the Society for the Experimental Analysis of Behavior (SEAB).
SEAB was formed in 1957 to serve as the publisher of JEAB. The Journal itself was founded to meet the needs of those who had been attracted to the behavior analytic approach but were unhappy with the lack of a journal specializing in that rapidly growing area. As described on its inside front page ever since, the new journal is "primarily for the original pub
Instructions to Authors
The Journal of the Experimental Analysis of Behavior (JEAB) is primarily for the original publication of experiments relevant to the behavior of individual organisms. Review articles and theoretical papers are also considered for publication. Manuscripts submitted to JEAB should conform to the style and organization described in the 1994 edition of the Publication Manual of t he American Psychological Association. The following comments supplement the Publication Manualby highlighting some points that are especially germane to submissions to JEAB. Authors should consult the APA Publication Manual for detailed discussion of these and other matters. Adherence to these guidelines will make the task of the scientists and other professionals who handle your manuscript easier and will be greatly appreciated.
FORMAT AND ORGANIZATION
Type the manuscript with 1.25-in. (3.2-cm) margins, double spaced throughout (including references, figure captions, and tables).
Word processors and laser printers enable a wide variety of font styles. However, it is unnecessary — and even distracting — to include fancy font styles in the submitted manuscript because a commercial printer puts the paper into final form. It works best to keep the font style simple (e.g., Courier), use 10 characters per inch, and use underlining to identify text to be set in italics. Please leave the right margins ragged rather than right-justified. Submit three copies to the Editor:

Manuscripts should be organized in the sequence indicated below.
- First page: Cover page including title (no longer than 85 characters and spaces), author(s), affiliation(s), suggested running head (which will appear at the top of odd-numbered pages and should not exceed 50 characters and spaces), and address, telephone number, FAX number, and E-mail address of submitting author.
- Second page: title, author(s), abstract, and key words.
- Third and successive pages: The text including an Introduction (not labeled as such) followed by Method, Results, and Discussion. Depart from this organization only when necessary for clarity.
- After the text, start each of the following in order on a separate page: References, Author Note, Footnotes, Tables, Appendixes, and Figure Captions.
- Figures: See the section below, Figures and Figure Captions.
