Instructions to Authors
Submission Instructions for Candidates
Guidelines for the submission of your thesis.
Before you hand in your thesis you must complete an ‘Application Form for Approval to Submit a Dissertation/Thesis’. This form is available from the Academic Office web site
http://www.bangor.ac.uk/ar/main/publications/home.htm
The new form will
- need to be sent to/handed in at the Academic Registry Student Records counter at least 10 working days prior to the submission deadline
- be used to check, and the student will need to confirm that: all library books have been returned; all matriculation requirements have been met; all financial accounts have been paid; any additional submission fees are paid
- establish if a student upon successful completion of their course wishes to attend a graduation ceremony or graduate ‘in absentia’.
The form currently cannot be completed and submitted electronically as the need remains for an original signature. A copy of the form marked ‘approved’ will be sent to the relevant School office thereby confirming that the requirements have been met and that the dissertation may be accepted.
Students who have failed to comply with any of the above requirements will have their application form returned and duly annotated with what action they should then take.
Students need to submit three copies of their thesis (one copy to the External, one copy to the Internal and one copy for the Chair). You should also have a bound copy for yourself. The usual practice is to have these soft bound at this stage. All these copies will be returned to you after viva for correction/hard binding.
When you submit the three copies of the thesis with the completed forms we also require a loose copy of the Title page, the Acknowledgements page, the Declaration page (signed and dated before the deadline), and the Contents pages. Copies of the thesis and the completed forms and paperwork should be submitted to the SBS Research Administrator. The British Library Doctoral Thesis Agreement Form also needs to be completed, in liaison with the supervisor if necessary.
