About the journal
|
Journal of Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics is devoted to illustrating the importance of pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and pharmacometrics in the understanding of drug action, therapy, design, development, and evaluation. Experimental and theoretical papers deal with the kinetics of drug disposition and drug action; clinical pharmacokinetics; factors affecting formation and disposition of drug metabolites; dosage form evaluation from animals and man; bioavailabilty studies, scaling from animals to man, and in vitro and in vivo correlations. A special section is provided for papers addressing pharmacometrics, the computational and statistical methods used for the modeling, analysis, interpretation, and simulation of pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic data. Although purely theoretical papers can be accepted, most papers will illustrate and apply their finding to real-world observations in animals and/or man. |

Instructions to Authors Submission of Papers Manuscripts in triplicate should be sent
by authors from the Americas to:
Dr. Thomas M. Ludden Journal of Pharmacokinetics and Biopharmaceutics GloboMax LLC 7250 Parkway Dr., Suite 430 Hanover, MD 21076, U.S.A. by Asia/Pacific authors to:
Prof. Yusuke Tanigawara Department of Pharmacy Keio University Hospital Tokyo 160-8582, Japan
and by European authors and all others to:
Prof. Malcolm Rowland Journal of Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences University of Manchester Manchester M13 9PL, England
Manuscripts may also be submitted electronically in Microsoft?/font> Word, .pdf, or .ps form format to jpkpd@globomax.com (North American authors), tanigawa@sc.itc.keio.ac.jp (Asia/Pacific authors), or JPP@man.ac.uk (International authors). Manuscripts with macros cannot be accepted.
Submission is a representation that the manuscript has not been published previously and is not currently under consideration for publication elsewhere. A statement transferring copyright from the authors (or their employers, if they hold the copyright) to Kluwer Academic/Plenum Publishers will be required before the manuscript can be accepted for publication. The Editors will supply the necessary forms for this transfer. Such a written transfer of copyright, which previously was assumed to be implicit in the act of submitting a manuscript, is necessary under the U.S. Copyright Law in order for the publisher to disseminate research results and reviews as widely and effectively as possible.
Manuscripts are accepted in five categories:
- Original Articles that contain definitive accounts of significant completed studies.
- Review Articles that provide a critical evaluation of previous work.
- Short Reports that are brief disclosures of new pharmacokinetic, pharmacodynamic or pharmacometric findings of special significance.
- Commentaries that provide thought-provoking scientific opinions on controversial topics.
- Tutorials that are well written and focus on methodology of particular relevance to the field.
Preparation of Manuscripts Manuscripts must be submitted in triplicate and should be typewritten, double-spaced, on 8?11 in. paper, with text, tables, and illustrations of a size that can be mailed to reviewers under one cover. Manuscripts should be submitted in English only. Titles should be followed by the author's full first name, middle initials, and last name, and the addresses of all contributors. Professional and official titles should be omitted. An abstract should be provided for all papers regardless of length. A list of three to nine key words for indexing purposes should be included below the abstract. A list of three potential reviewers, their mailing and e-mail addresses, along with telephone and fax numbers, should be provided. To facilitate the processing and review of manuscripts, authors are strongly encouraged to submit papers electronically in MS Word format.
References References should be numbered in one consecutive series by order of appearance in the text. Reference citations in the text should be numerals in parentheses placed on the base line. Submitted articles should be listed as "in press" only if formally accepted for publication, and the journal, volume number, and year, if known, should be given. References to "unpublished" work and papers submitted for publication should not be included as numbered references but should be discussed in the text of the manuscript. References should include the initial and last name of all authors, the title of the reference, the journal's name (abbreviated to conform to Medline), volume number, inclusive page range, and year of publication.
Tables Tables should be numbered consecutively with Roman numerals and referred to by number in the text. Each table should be typed on a separate sheet of paper and should have an explanatory title.
Illustrations Illustrations (photographs, drawings, figures, diagrams, and charts) are to be numbered in one consecutive series of Arabic numerals. Each of the three copies of the manuscript should contain reproductions of all figures. In addition, one set of originals or high-quality photographic prints thereof should be included for submission to the publisher should the manuscript be accepted. Photographs should be large, glossy prints, showing high contrast. Identify figures on the back with author's name and the number of the illustration. Each figure should have an accompanying caption. Figure captions should be typed (double-spaced) in consecutive order on a separate sheet of paper placed at the end of the manuscript. Electronic artwork submitted on disk should be in TIFF or EPS format (1200 dpi for line and 300 dpi for half-tone and gray-scale art). Color art should be in the CMYK color space. Artwork should be on a separate disk from the text, and a hard copy must accompany the disk.
Computer Disks After a manuscript has been accepted for publication and after all revisions have been incorporated, manuscripts should be submitted to the Editor's Office as hard copy accompanied by electronic files on disk. Label the disk with identifying information: software, journal name, and first author's last name. The disk must be the one from which the accompanying manuscript (finalized version) was printed. The Editor's Office cannot accept a disk without its accompanying, matching hard-copy manuscript.
Publication Policy The Journal makes no page charges. Reprints are available to authors, and order forms with the current price schedule are sent with proofs.
