编辑部信息(Editorial Board)
About the journal The Journal of Histotechnology publishes original articles dealing with vertebrate histology or cytology, histochemistry, immunohistochemistry, marine histology, nuclear histology, veterinary histology, fluorescence and electron microscopy, molecular biology, abstracts of presentations to state, regional, and national meetings; and cast studies describing the use of a particular stain(s) in the analysis of disease in human or animal tissue. Articles dealing with quality control, educational or administrative techniques directly related to these disciplines are also published.
Instructions to Authors
Submission of Manuscripts - All articles should be sent as either MS-Word? or Wordperfect?documents on IBM-PC or Macintosh formatted disks postage prepaid, at the author's risk, to: James B. Hendricks, Ph.D., Editor-in-Chief, The Journal of Histotechnology, Research Institute for Children, 200 Henry Clay Avenue, Suite 317, New Orleans, Louisiana 70118. Alternatively, manuscripts may be sent via email to jhendricks@chnola-research.org The name, phone number, fax number and email address of the corresponding author must be included with all submissions.
All papers submitted and published in this journal; must be submited to it exclusively. Submission of the manuscript by the author(s) carries with it the right to publish that manuscript, which will then become the sole property of the National Society for Histotechnology.
Authors must reveal to the Editor any potential conflict of interest related to their submitted manuscript.
Every manuscript will be acknowledged. After peer review by at least two outside reviewers, the author will be notified as to whether or not it has been accepted. If not accepted, materials will not be returned except at the author's request and expense.
General - All manuscripts should be arranged in the following order: Abstract, Key Words, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusions, Acknowledgments, References, Legends for Illustrations and Tables. Quotations must be accurate and fully cited. Permission to reproduce previously published material must be cleared by the author, and a copy of the letter granting permission should accompany the manuscript.
Title Page - The front page of the manuscript should include: (1) Title, (2) Name(s) of Author(s) and degrees/certifications, (3) Institute of origin (if the affiliation has changed since the work was done, please indicate both), (4) Source of support.
Abstract - The next page should contain an abstract that is a factual summary of the manuscript, not to exceed 200 words.
Key Words - List the key words at the bottom of the Abstract page. Do not use title words. These words are for indexing purposes.
Text Style - Manuscript (including tables, references, footnotes, and legends for illustrations) should be formatted double-spaced with 1-inch margins for printing in protrait orientation on 81/2' x 11' paper.
References - Only works cited in the text should be referenced. References should be in consecutive numerical order, enclosed in parentheses. They should be listed at the end of the paper in the following order: Author(s), Article title (with subtitle, if any), Abbreviated journal title, Volume number (in Arabic numbers), inclusive pages, and year.
Textbooks should be referenced as follows: Author(s), Title of Chapter, In Name of Book, Volume number, Editors, Publisher, Place, Date, Pages. Unpublished data, personal communications and submitted manuscripts will not be accepted as references. A paper "In Press" should be listed only if it has been accepted by the journal and can be verified by a letter of acceptance. Authors are solely responsible for bibliographical accuracy.
Illustrations - Illustrations consist of all materials that cannot be set in type, such as photographs, drawings, graphs, charts and tracings. Submit only illustrations that reinforce and aid understanding of the text. Every illustration must have a descriptive legend. Illustrations may be submitted as high-contrast glossy photographs of the original. Photomicrographs (please submit three sets) should include original magnification. Do not submit 2 x 2 slides. Identify one copy of the illustration by affixing a label to the back giving number, author's name and title of article. Identify the other two copies only with the title of the article. Illustrations in color can be reproduced, but only at the author's expense. Each individual photo will be billed at $200. Composites are treated as a single photograph. Illustrations may also be submitted on disk formatted for either IBM-PC or Macintosh. Files must be sent in CMYK mode for four-color separation and at no less than 300 dpi in one of the following formats: TIFF, GIF, JPEG, BMP, PHOTOSHOP, PICT or EPS.
Tables - Tables are most effective when they are self-explanatory and when they supplement rather than duplicate the text. Each table must have a title and be referenced in the text.
Page Proofs - Facsimile proofs will be sent by email to the corresponding author for final review prior to publication. Page proofs must be returned to the Managing Editor within 48 hours by airmail. Submission of page proofs to the author is merely for corrections of possible typesetting errors. Major changes or revisions made in proofs will not be allowed at this stage.
Offprints - With the proof of the article the corresponding author will receive an order form for offprints. The form must be completed and returned to the Managing Editor along with the corrected proofs: Natasha Haynes, JOH Managing Editor, Research & Technology, Children's Hospital Suite 317, 200 Henry Clay Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70118. Phone: 504-896-2802 Fax: 504-896-9413 Email: nhaynes@chnola-research.org Orders for reprints cannot be filled at a later date.
