About the journal
Journal of Computational Acoustics (JCA)
The aim of this journal is to provide an international forum for the dissemination of the state-of-the-art information in the field of Computational Acoustics.
Topics covered by this journal include research and tutorial contributions in OCEAN ACOUSTICS (a subject of active research in relation with sonar detection and the design of noiseless ships), SEISMO-ACOUSTICS (of concern to earthquake science and engineering, and also to those doing underground prospection like searching for petroleum), AEROACOUSTICS (which includes the analysis of noise created by aircraft), COMPUTATIONAL METHODS, and SUPERCOMPUTING. In addition to the traditional issues and problems in computational methods, the journal also considers theoretical research acoustics papers which lead to large-scale scientific computations.
The journal strives to be flexible in the type of high quality papers it publishes and their format. Equally desirable are
| (1) |
Full papers, which should be complete and relatively self-contained original contributions with an introduction that can be understood by the broad computational acoustics community. Both rigorous and heuristic styles are acceptable. Of particular interest are papers about new areas of research in which other than strictly computational arguments may be important in establishing a basis for further developments. |
| (2) |
Tutorial review papers, covering some of the important issues in Computational Mathematical Methods, Scientific Computing, and their applications. |
| (3) |
Short notes, which present specific new results and techniques in a brief communication. |
The journal will occasionally publish significant contributions which are larger than the usual format for regular papers. Special issues which report results of high quality workshops in related areas and monographs of significant contributions in the Series of Computational Acoustics will also be published.
BOOK REVIEWS We begin to publish book reviews from this issue (Volume 8, Number 1) of the Journal of Computational Acoustics (JCA). Hereafter, we will publish book reviews whenever we receive comments. Any author who wishes to receive comments of his/her book can submit a copy of his/her book to one of the editors-in-chief of the JCA for a review.
(Editorial Policy: All book reviews express the opinions of individual reviewers and are not necessarily endorsed by the Editorial Board of the JCA. There may be negative reviews; in this case, the author is given a chance to respond to the review in the book review section of this journal; likewise, the reviewer will be given a chance to respond to the author's comments.)
Instructions to Authors
- Hard copies of the manuscripts with at least one original set of figures (photographs) should be submitted in triplicate to any of the Editors-in-Chief or Senior Editors, the addresses of whom are printed in the journal. In addition, authors are also encouraged to submit manuscripts on TeX or LaTeX files, if available, by electronic mail or by floppy disk. This will expedite publication. TeX and LaTeX macros are available upon request from the Editors-in-Chief and the publisher.
- Submission of a manuscript indicates a tacit understanding that the paper is not actively under consideration for publication with other journals. Color photographs may be submitted but authors will be charged by the publisher for printing color figures.
- All papers will be acknowledged and refereed. Authors may recommend appropriate persons as referees for their papers although this in no way binds the Editors to follow their suggestions.
- Once a paper is accepted, the author is assumed to have transferred copyright of the paper over to IMACS.
- There will be no page charge for the journal. 30 free reprints will be given to the first author of each accepted paper. Purchase orders for additional reprints can be made on order forms which will be sent to authors.
- Manuscripts can also be sent to the publisher via Web-based submission.
