Authors are strongly encouraged to submit manuscripts on disk. The disk should be prepared using MS Word or WordPerfect and should be clearly labeled with the authors?names, file name, and software program. A hardcopy printout that exactly matches the disk must be supplied. Each manuscript must be accompanied by a statement that it has not been published elsewhere and that it has not been submitted simultaneously for publication elsewhere. Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyrighted material from other sources and are required to sign an agreement for the transfer of copyright to the publisher. All accepted manuscripts, artwork, and photographs become the property of the publisher.
All parts of the manuscript should be typewritten, double-spaced, with margins of at least one inch on all sides. Articles will normally be no more than 35 double-spaced pages in length (inclusive of tables and figures). They should also include a title page, a 150-word abstract and complete references. The title of the manuscript should reappear on the first page of the text. Authors should also supply a shortened version of the title suitable for the running head, not exceeding 50 character spaces. Research notes (12 pages including references, tables, and figures; omit abstract) are welcomed submissions. Please include author's e-mail address for contact information.
Manuscripts, including tables, figures, and references, should be prepared in accordance with the Publication Manual of the American Psychology Association (Fourth Edition, 1994).
Authors are encouraged to avoid the use of sexist, racist and otherwise offensive language. Manuscript copies should be clear and legible and all figures must be camera ready. All reviews are blind and conducted by two reviewers and a Section Editor with the review process taking 8-10 weeks. Authors will receive typed feedback regarding the editorial decisions made on their manuscript and any suggested revision recommendations. Authors should be prepared to provide their raw data if requested during the review process. A file copy of the manuscript should be kept by the author because manuscripts will not be mailed back.
A Microsoft Word author template file, which also includes more detailed instructions in its "Read Me" file, can be downloaded from this page.
Illustrations
Illustrations submitted (line drawings, halftones, photos, photomicrographs, etc.) should be clean originals or digital files. Digital files are recommended for highest quality reproduction and should follow these guidelines:
?300 dpi or higher ?sized to fit on journal page ?EPS, TIFF, or PSD format only ?submitted as separate files, not embedded in text files
Color illustrations will be considered for publication; however, the author will be required to bear the full cost involved in their printing and publication. The charge for the first figure is $1,200.00. Subsequent figures, totaling no more than 4 text pages, are $500.00 each. Good quality color prints should be provided in their final size. Figures needing reduction or enlargement will be charged an additional 25 percent. The publisher has the right to refuse publication of any artwork deemed unacceptable.
Tables and Figures
Tables and figures should not be embedded in the text, but should be included as separate sheets or files. A short descriptive title should appear above each table with a clear legend and any footnotes suitably identified below. All units must be included. Figures should be completely labeled, taking into account necessary size reduction. Captions should be typed, double-spaced, on a separate sheet. All original figures should be clearly marked in pencil on the reverse side with the number, author抯 name, and top edge indicated.
Proofs
One set of page proofs is sent to the designated author. Proofs should be checked and returned within 48 hours.
Early Electronic Offprints:
Corresponding authors can now receive their article by e-mail as a complete PDF. This allows the author to print up to 50 copies, free of charge, and disseminate them to colleagues. In many cases this facility will be available up to two weeks prior to publication. Or, alternatively, corresponding authors will receive the traditional 50 offprints. A copy of the journal will be sent by post to all corresponding authors after publication. Additional copies of the journal can be purchased at the author's preferential rate of ?5.00/$25.00 per copy.
REPRINTS
The corresponding author of each article will receive three complete copies of the issue in which the article appears. Reprints of individual articles may be ordered from Taylor & Francis. Use the reprint order form included with page proofs.
