Instructions to Authors

Author's Guide
This Guide has been prepared to provide authors assistance in the preparation of their manuscripts. For a detailed discussion of the major aspects of manuscript preparation, authors are referred to a style guide, such as The ACS Style Guide (1986) available from the American Chemical Society, 1155 16th Street, NW, Washington, DC 20036, USA.

Title
The Title should be brief, specific and informative. Title should be crafted with a view to specific key words that would assist in computer literature retrieval.

Authors
Include the first name, middle initial and last name of each author. Do not include professional or official titles. Give the complete mailing address (including e-mail address, if available) of where the research was performed. If the current address of a given author is different from that of the main address, include the address as a footnote. For papers with more than one author, please designate with an asterisk one author to whom inquiries should be addressed.

Abstracts
An abstract, of 100-150 words, should be the first section after the headings in each submitted manuscript. The Abstract is often used directly for Chemical Abstracts. The Abstract should contain a brief summary of the purpose, experimental methods, new results and conclusions. As with the Title, the Abstract should contain important key words for computer literature retrieval. Chemical Abstracts Service is currently entering the abstracts in their database and is indexing the publication of this Journal. The CODEN is JAOTFT.

Text
Consult a current issue of the Journal for general style and format. Assume your readers to be reasonably knowledgeable about AOTs but not expert in your particular field. Long historical reviews are not necessary, but sufficient referenced documentation and background material should be included so that the reader can access key previously published work. It is helpful to divide the paper into sections with appropriate section headings, but avoid too many subsections and sub-subsections. Sectionalization should be only to the extent needed to make the paper well organized without affecting the smooth continuity of the text. Keep all material relevant to a given section within that section. The use of footnotes should be minimized; if necessary, they should be numbered as references.

Introduction
Every manuscript must have a concise introduction clearly stating the purpose of the work. Put your work in the context of previous work with adequate references to the primary literature and especially good reviews where available. It is not necessary to cover references already cited in reviews unless they are key to the work.

Experimental and Methods
Common apparatus and reagents, except for specialized items, need not be described in detail. Describe new methods in sufficient detail to allow an experienced researcher to repeat the method; however, details of commonly used procedures in the field should not be included. A brief summary of published procedures will be sufficient.

Results and Discussion
Use tables and figures wherever possible with a clear but concise explanation of the results. Avoid long convoluted discussions.

References and Notes
References and notes should be numbered sequentially and marked with numbers in brackets [e.g. Jones et al. (45) showed that...]. References and notes should be listed at the end of the text in numerical order with the numbers in brackets. The accuracy of the references is the responsibility of the authors. "Anonymous" is not acceptable for authorship. If the author(s) are unknown, list the reference by company, agency, Journal source or publisher. It is a good idea to look up the references in the library from the penultimate draft of the manuscript to detect transcription errors.
References should adhere to the formats below, using abbreviations for the titles of periodicals as recommended in the Chemical Abstracts Service Source Index, 1907-89:

Articles in Journals
(14) Wilkinson, F.; Brummer, J. G. J. Phys. Chem. Ref. Data 1981, 10, 809-999.

Chapters in Books
(22) Benkelberg, H. J.; Deister, U.; Warneck, P. In Physicochemical Behavior of Atmospheric Pollutants; Restellia, G.; Angeletti, G., Eds.; Kleuwer: Dordrecht, 1990; pp 263-269.

Books
(31) Helz, G.; Zepp, R. G.; Crosby, D., Eds. Aqu-atic and Surface Photochemistry; Lewis: Boca Raton, FL, 1993.

Manuscript Requirements
The original manuscript and three copies are required. Text should be prepared with single spacing, in Times New Roman font, size 11pt, and on 8 ? ?11" paper. Tables and figures should be placed after a list of the Figure Captions, which should follow the References.
If certain key references are unpublished, either include copies of the manuscripts or provide enough information to aid reviewers in assessing the relevance of the cited material to the manuscript.
Generally graphs are preferred over tables if precise data are not necessary. Tables should be numbered and titled appropriately. Prepare tables in a consistent style with single spacing and wide margins, each on a separate page.
Figures should be numbered and generated in black and white only by use of a high quality graphics plotter or (e.g. laser) printer. Since figures will be reduced when published, lettering should be large and clear. Mark the figure number at the lower left-hand corner in small characters. Collect all captions and legends on a separate "Figure Captions" page. Use good quality paper, not thin, transparent or textured paper. Original drawings (or sharp photoprints) of graphs and diagrams plus any glossy photographs should be included in the "original" copy of the manuscript.
Color figures can be reproduced, providing that the author pays all incremental costs, which will be estimated in advance on request. The author must submit a letter indicating willingness to pay for the incremental costs of color reproductions at the time of submission of the revised manuscript.

Nomenclature
The nomenclature should conform to current American usage. Authors are encouraged to use the style recommended by IUPAC or the Chemical Abstracts Service. Chemical Abstracts nomenclature rules are contained in Appendix of the current Chemical Abstracts Index Guide. A list of ring systems, including names and numbering systems, is found in the Ring Systems Handbook, American Chemical Society, Columbus, Ohio.
Use consistent units of measure (preferably SI). Authors should consult the IUPAC Quantities, Units and Symbols in Physical Chemistry, 2nd Edition, Blackwell, London, UK (1993) for correct SI usage, units and style.
If nomenclature is specialized, include a "Nomenclature" section at the end of the paper with definitions and dimensions of all terms. Avoid trivial names. Trade names should be defined where first introduced.

Formulas and Equations
Balanced chemical equations should be numbered along with mathematical equations. Authors should keep mathematical sections short and avoid long derivations.

Safety
If authors identify specific safety issues, such as toxicity, precautionary handling procedures or explosive dangers, these should be carefully documented and highlighted in the text. No responsibility is assumed by Science & Technology Network, Inc., it's employees, and the Editors of the Journal of Advanced Oxidation Technologies for any injury and/or damage to persons or property as a matter of product liability, negligence or otherwise, or from any use or operation of any products, methods, experiments, instructions or ideas contained in the material herein. Science & Technology Network, Inc., it's employees, and the Editors of the Journal of Advanced Oxidation Technologies also assume no responsibility for the contents, statements and opinions advanced by contributors to the publication.

Acknowledgments
Credits to granting agencies and individuals should be placed in an "acknowledgment" section at the end of the text.

Electronic Manuscripts
Authors are encouraged to provide a disk or CD (formatted for PC only) containing the text of their manuscript at the time of submission of the revised manuscript. The publisher works with the text and figures prepared with Microsoft Word. Please indicate the word processor and version number used in preparing the manuscript. Manuscripts prepared using other word processors will be accepted under the understanding that the use of these files cannot be guaranteed. Note that the manuscript on the disk must match exactly the revised hardcopy of the manuscript.
When preparing the manuscript, use the document mode (or equivalent). DO NOT right justify the text and DO NOT include any page formatting instructions or columns. Make sure that references adhere to the required format for publication. Make sure that there is no confusion between 1 (one) and l (el), 0 (zero) and O (oh), x (ex) and ?(times sign). Carefully check the final manuscript for correct spelling and consistent style and notation. Remember that errors in the manuscript will be translated faithfully to the typeset copy. Check the file with a virus detection program.
All of the text and tables (if any) should be cont-ained in one computer file. Do not embed any graphic material into the text. Graphics (if in computer format) should be submitted as separate files. Columns in tables should be set with tabs only. The Editor has the right to adjust the final version to fit the Journal style, and assumes no responsibility for any unintentional mistake.

Proofs
Manuscript will be edited according to the style of this Journal and one set of proofs will be sent to the author to be checked for printer's errors. Corrections must be restricted to instances in which the proof is at variance with the manuscript.
