About the journal
International Journal of Theoretical Physics publishes original research and reviews in theoretical physics and neighboring fields such as mathematics and the biological sciences. Dedicated to the unification of the latest physics research, this journal seeks to both map the direction of future research arising from new analytical methods, including the latest progress in the use of computers, as well as to complement traditional physics research by providing fresh inquiry into quantum measurement theory, relativistic field theory, and other similarly fundamental areas.
Instructions to Authors
- Manuscripts in triplicate and books for review should be submitted to the following address exactly:
Dr. David Finkelstein Editor, International Journal of Theoretical Physics Georgia Institute of Technology Atlanta, Georgia 30332-0430
e-mail: df4@mail.gatech.edu Criteria for publication are interest of the article to theoretical physicists, accuracy and originality of the work, and, particularly for reviews, clarity of exposition.
- Submission is a representation that the manuscript has not been published previously and is not currently under consideration for publication elsewhere. A statement transferring copyright from the authors (or their employers, if they hold the copyright) to Plenum Publishing Corporation will be required before the manuscript can be accepted for publication. The Editor will supply the necessary forms for this transfer. Such a written transfer of copyright, which previously was assumed to be implicit in the act of submitting a manuscript, is necessary under the U.S. Copyright Law in order for the publisher to carry through the dissemination of research results and reviews as widely and effectively as possible.
- Type double-spaced on one side of 8 ??11 inch opaque paper with 1 ?inch margins. Submit three clear and complete copies (include the original). The copies must be legible to the typesetter as well as to the reviewers.
- A title page is to be provided and should include the title of the article, author's name (no degrees), author's affiliation, and suggested running head. The affiliation should comprise the department, institution (usually university or company), city, and state (or nation) and should be typed as a footnote to the author's name. The suggested running head should be less than 80 characters (including spaces) and should comprise the article title or an abbreviated version thereof.
For office purposes, the title page should include the complete mailing address, telephone number, and e-mail address of the one author designated to review proofs.
For proofing purposes, a current e-mail is essential.
- Mathematical notation should be typewritten wherever possible. If handwritten notation must be used, it should be clear and legible, with any necessary explanatory notes located in the margin.
- An abstract is to be provided, preferably no longer than 150 words.
- A list of 3? key words is to be provided directly below the abstract. Key words should express the precise content of the manuscript, as they are used for indexing purposes. Upon submission, authors should suggest 3 referees competent in the field of their paper.
- Illustrations should be prepared with india ink and submitted as originals, if possible. Clear black-and-white reproductions are acceptable; Xerox copies are not. All illustrations are to be numbered in one consecutive series of Arabic numerals, and a list of captions should be typed on a separate sheet of paper. Artwork for each figure should be provided on a separate sheet of paper. Identify each figure on the back with author's name and number of the illustration. Separate drawings are required for diagrams that appear in the text even though they are not labeled-figures.
- Tables should be numbered (with Roman numerals) and referred to by number in the text. Each table should be typed on a separate sheet of paper. Center the title above the table, and type explanatory footnotes (indicated by superscript lowercase letters) below the table.
- References should be listed alphabetically at the end of the paper. Use the author's name and year of publication for citation in the text. References should be as complete as possible, and, for maximum clarity, abbreviations should be avoided.
- Footnotes should be avoided. When their use is absolutely necessary, footnotes should be numbered consecutively using a separate set of Arabic numerals and should be typed on a separate sheet of paper. Use the appropriate superscript numeral without the parentheses for citation in the text.
- In general, the style of the manuscript should follow the recommendations of the American Institute of Physics in its Style Manual. The Editor upon accepting a manuscript reserves the right to introduce style changes consistent with the overall stype of the journal.
- After a manuscript has been accepted for publication and after all revisions have been incorporated, manuscripts should be submitted to the Editor's Office as hard copy accompanied by electronic files on disk. Label the disk with identifying information ?software, journal name, and first author's last name. The disk must be the one from which the accompanying manuscript (finalized version) was printed out. The Editor's Office cannot accept a disk without its accompanying, matching hard-copy manuscript.
- Proofs and correspondence concerning papers in the process of publication should be addressed to the Managing Editor, Plenum Press Journals, Plenum Publishing Corporation, 233 Spring Street, New York, N.Y. 10013.
- The journal makes no page charges. Reprints are available to authors, and order forms with the current price schedule are sent with proofs.
