Typical areas investigated include: millimeter sources; devices or systems; millimeter and submillimeter guided propagation; atmospheric physics and propagation; lasers; detectors; mixers and receivers; gyrotron and free electron oscillators; plasma interactions and diagnostics; astronomy; calibration standards; spectroscopy; and submillimeter properties of solids, liquids, and gases.

Instructions to Authors

Papers for the International Journal of Infrared and Millimeter Waves, must be submitted to the Editor:

Kenneth J. Button
Editor, International Journal of Infrared and Millimeter Waves,

Prepare your original manuscript in camera-ready form by setting your margins so that your text is 125 mm wide and no more than 194 mm top-to-bottom. Final manuscripts must conform to the format described below.

Submission is a representation that the manuscript has not been published previously and is not currently under consideration for publication elsewhere. A statement transferring copyright from the authors (or their employers, if they hold the copyright) to Plenum Publishing Corporation will be required before the manuscript can be accepted for publication. The Editor will supply the necessary forms for this transfer. Such a written transfer of copyright, which previously was assumed to be implicit in the act of submitting a manuscript, is necessary under the U.S. Copyright Law in order for the publisher to carry through the dissemination of research results and reviews as widely and effectively as possible.

The journal makes no page charges. Reprints are available to authors, and order forms are supplied with the Author‘s Guide by the Editor. If you have any questions concerning manuscript preparation or should you need additional supplies, please write the Editor at the above address or contact him at (321) 777-7293.

CAMERA-READY MANUSCRIPT PREPARATION

  1. Author‘s Guide. A camera-ready model will be supplied with the Author‘s Guide. Follow the guidelines indicated by the model. When sending your final camera-ready manuscript to the Editor, please be sure to enclose your transfer-of-copyright form.
  2. Type. Type single-spaced using a machine that provides high contrast, black on white. All type should be dark, sharp, and clear. The publisher will typeset the running heads, your name and affiliation, and the manuscript title.
  3. Title Page. Type the title, author‘s name, affiliation, abstract, and the beginning of the text where indicated by the model, Type the title in capital letters. Also, a list of three to six key words should be included on a separate line directly below the abstract.
  4. Text. Type the text, single-spaced, inside the margins given on the model. Each line begins on the left-hand margin and ends as near to the right-hand margin as possible. The line may run over the right-hand margin by at most three characters, or it may stop just short of the margin. Indent the first line of each paragraph five spaces.
  5. Subheadings. The text should be suitably divided into subheadings. First-value subheadings should be upper and lower case, underlined, centered; second-value subheadings, upper and lower case, underlined, flush left.
  6. Tables. Tables should, if possible, be placed on the page of text on which they are discussed. Tables may be typed, single-spaced, on a separate piece of bond and pasted into place, or they may be typed on the page. For simplicity, place tables at the top or bottom of the page. All tables must be numbered consecutively with Roman numerals, identified by a title, and cited (in order) in the text.
  7. Illustrations. Use only those figures that are necessary to illustrate the meaning of the text. The text must include a citation of each figure. A glossy print should be made of each illustration, whether it is a line drawing or a photograph. (Color photographs or Xerox copies are not acceptable.) The size of glossy prints should be kept to a minimum consistent with clarity in order to conserve journal space. The glossy print should be pasted on the page in the appropriate position. Figures should be interspersed throughout the paper, rather than placed at the end, and should appear at the top or bottom of the page. The figure caption should be typed below the print.
  8. References. All references within the text should be numbered consecutively, with the numbers in parentheses. Complete citations should appear at the end of the paper in a section entitled "References," using a style that presents all pertinent information in a clear and concise manner. In every case, the citation must begin with the author‘s name. The recommended style of references is that established by the American Institute of Physics in its Style Guide.
  9. Folios. Each page of the text, beginning with the title page, should be numbered consecutively; type the number in the lower right-hand corner of the page.
  10. Corrections. Erasures and corrections should be made by no means other than Liquid Paper, Snopake, or any other similar liquid opaquing substance.
  11. Proofreading. It is absolutely imperative that authors proofread their camera-ready copy with great care, since no changes to this copy will be made by the Editor.
