Instructions to Authors
The journal will consider two types of papers: articles and short papers. Articles will be full-length papers (between 8-16 pages in length) reporting original contributions or significant results. Short papers (between 5-8 typeset pages in length) present new ideas, preliminary and brief results. Papers emphasizing applications are especially welcome. Prospective authors should submit five copies of previously unpublished papers to the Editors of their region or to the Editor-In-Chief. To facilitate communication, the address, phone number, fax number, and email address of the corresponding author should be given at the time of paper submission. Papers should be written in English and arranged in the following order: 1) title of the paper, 2) name of all authors with affiliations and mailing address for each author, 3) an abstract (50-100 words) containing the purpose, scope, contribution of the paper, 4) up to 10 keywords with the first keyword being the most pertinent one, 5) introduction, 6) main body of the paper divided into sections and subsections where appropriate, 7) conclusion, 8) references, 9) appendices (if any).
Submitted papers should be typed on standard 8.5 x 11" paper, one side only. Use a Roman typeface for your manuscript whenever possible (i.e., Times or Times Roman). All paragraphs in the manuscript should be double spaced and typed flush with the left. Do not indent paragraphs, but allow extra space between them. Italicize words to be printed in italics and bold words to be printed in bold.
Both equations and figures must be numbered sequentially using Arabic numerals. Captions for figures should be in sentence format with the format with the first word capitalized and a period at the end. Please provide a separate list (separate from the text) of all captions. Equations should be numbered sequentially with the number enclosed in parenthesis and placed at the right margin.
References should be listed separately at the back of the paper and numbered sequentially to match the notes within the text. Type each reference note using brackets , e.g. [2]. Please remember that every note in the text should have a corresponding note in the reference list. Type the reference list in the following manner:
(for books, single author) 1. Author’s Last Name, First Name/Initial. Title of Book (italicized). Publisher’s Name, Year of Publication, pp.222-233.
(for journals, two or more authors) 2. Author’s Last Name, First Name or Initial, and Second Author’s First Name, Last Name. "Title of Article (in quotes)." Name of Journal (italicized). Publisher’s Name, Month and Year, pp.23-26.

DISKETTE SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS: PDF FILES ARE PREFERRED!! After files are accepted for
publication, authors will be asked to submit their manuscript file(s) on diskette, zip disk or email files to
ag18@aol.com. The diskette label(s) must indicate which software application and version was used to compose the
text and specify the format type (DOS, Windows, or MAC). Microsoft Word is the preferred word processing
program. Please make sure that a laser quality copy of your manuscript accompanies your diskette along with artwork
and photos.
Figures should not be embedded. Submit figures individually on diskette in either .TIF or .EPS format. Figures that
have very thin lines sometimes do not print well so please be sure lines on figures, graphs and charts are at least a .5
point size (1 point lines are preferable). Good, black hard copies of figures can be submitted for scanning and placed
into your article, as long as they are labeled and insertion point noted within article. Accompany each file with either
an original of the artwork or a laser quality copy in a size slightly larger than the size intended for the printed article.
Original photos must be provided in a separate envelope with the figure number written on the back with a soft-tipped
marker or use a Post-It-Note (please do not use ball-point pen).
Each designated corresponding author will receive a proof to check the accuracy of the final typeset article. Only
corrections for typesetting errors are allowed. Any author alterations will incur an extra fee to the author.
Correctly formatted article templates with preset styles are available. Templates are available for Windows
compatible Framemaker, PageMaker 6.5, MicroSoft Word and WordPerfect. For Macintosh: MicroSoft Word 6,
Framemaker 5.5, PageMaker 6.5. If you use any of these programs, these templates are highly recommended. Please
email requests to ag18@aol.com. We will be happy to answer any other questions you may have. Direct your
communications to the laser department.
