About the journal
is a scientific journal of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, published quarterly in English by Parasitological Institute SAS in the SAP - Slovak Academic Press Ltd., Slovak Republic. The journal is a medium for publication of original previously unpublished scientific papers from different fields of helminthology. The role of the journal is to enrich the theoretical basis of helminthology and to contribute to the advancement in human and veterinary medicine and in agronomy.
Instructions to Authors
1. General instructions
Manuscripts (two copies) should be sent to the Editorial Office of Helminthologia, Parasitological Institute SAS, Hlinkova 3, 04001 Kosice, Slovak Republic. Submission of a manuscript implies that it has been approved by all the named authors, that it reports their unpublished work and that it is not being con sidered in whole or in part for publication elsewhere. On receipt the manuscript will be acknowledged and upon acceptance the first author will be notified in which issue the paper will be published. In the light of the referee抯 comments the Editorial Board can refuse contributions or to return them to the authors for revision. Minor (mainly formal) amendments will be made by Editorial Board, but major changes will only be made with the authors?agreement. Rejected papers will only be returned on the author抯 request.
2. Form of the manuscript
Manuscript must be typewritten on A 4 paper (210 ?295) in double spacing throughout with a left-hand margin of about 40 mm.The manuscript should not normally exceed 15 pages (including References and illustrations). The number of illustrations should be kept to a minimum. Manuscripts on a 5.25" or 3.5" diskette are acceptable but must be accompanied by two clean printouts and information on software (Ami Pro 3.0, Word Perfect 5.1, Word for Windows 2.0).
3. Arrangement of the manuscript
The headings, the main parts ?Summary, Introduction etc., headlines in tables and explanations of figures should be placed on the left of the page. The title page should comprise:
a) A concise but informative title of not more than 40 characters, name of author(s) without titles, and the addresses of the institutes of authors. For series publications, each part should be given a different title (with differences especially in the first words of the title). The main unifying title of the series should be given as a footnote.
b) The Summary should not exceed 150 words, and should include the main points: the problem, methods, results and conclusion. Following the text of the summary 3? key words should be given for indexing. The main body of the manuscript should be structured as follows: Introduction, Material and Methods, Results, Discussion, References, and Acknowledgements.
c) When describing new species (and other new taxa) the author should give the exact address where specimens are deposited, including the collection numbers of holotypes, paratypes, etc. The accompanying data on taxa should adhere to the International Code for Zoological Nomenclature. Any communication which contains descriptions of new species must be accompanied by at least one paratype for scrutiny by the referees and later deposition in the collection of the Parasitological Institute SAS.
d) Abbreviations in the text should be given in full at the first use except for commonly used ones. Only the internationally accepted nomenclature (names of helminths, chemical compounds, etc.) and S. I. units should be used.
e) Illustrations (two copies) may be submitted in the form of photographs, graphs, line-drawings and diagrams. They should be marked on the reverse by the author抯 name and Figure number. The authors should indicate with pencil in the margin where figures and tables may be inserted. Photographic prints (black-and-white, 9 ?12) should be of high contrast and the top should be marked in pencil by an arrow on the reverse side. Where appropriate, scale bars and units should be given directly on photographs and drawings. Statements of magnification are not acceptable.Graphs should be drawn with black ink. If the author wishes to have them printed in the original form (reduced to 8 or 16 cm) letters should be approximately 3.5? mm high (line width 0.6 mm). Letters and numerals should be done with stencils or plastic lettering systems to a professional standard. Text to explain Figures and Footnotes should be written on separate sheets, marked with the number and title of the figures, respectively. They should be self-explanatory.
f) Tables should be given on separate pages, labelled as Table + arabic numeral in the left of the page and should have explanatory caption. The number of lines should be limited, usually 2 horizontal lines separating headings of columns from the data proper + 1 horizontal line under the base of the Table; vertical lines should be avoided. Any necessary explanatory data (abbreviations, symbols, etc.) should be placed beneath the Table. The same data should not be presented in both graphs and tables. In general, graphs are preferable to tables.
4. References
References must be listed (starting on separate page) in alphabetical order in the following style:

Titles of the cited papers (except for German, French and Spanish) must be translated into English. Names of journals (and names of authors) written originally in the Cyrillic alphabet must be transcribed into English. The author is responsible for the accuracy of citations. Abbreviations of journal titles should be according to the World List of Scientific Periodicals.
