Manuscripts
Manuscripts for Geophysical Prospecting should be submitted, together with a covering letter, to:
The EAGE Editorial Office PO Box 59 3990 DB Houten The Netherlands Tel: +31 30 635 4055 Fax: +31 30 634 3524 e-mail: eage@eage.nl
Please use strong envelopes. Submission of a paper implies the transfer of copyright to the EAGE, and that the paper is not under consideration elsewhere.
The Editorial Office requires five copies of each paper complete with keywords, title page (including an e-mail address for the corresponding author), abstract, list of references, list of captions, tables and copies of illustrations, all on separate pages. English is the preferred language, but manuscripts in French or German will also be considered.
Manuscripts should be typed double-spaced on good-quality white paper, A4 format, 21 】 30 cm or 8 】 11 in., on one side only, with wide margins (3 cm). Pages must be numbered.
Abstracts
All manuscripts should have an abstract in English. The abstract should be a brief but comprehensive summary and should be able to stand by itself. It should state the major result or conclusion of the paper and should not contain any references.
Literature references
Appropriate citation of literature references should be as follows:
(a) Bruckshaw (1954) suggested ...
(b) The journal does not permit use of non-metric systems (Koefoed 1967).
All references cited in the text should be listed alphabetically at the end of the paper, beginning on a separate page (also double-spaced). References must be complete, including name and initials of authors cited, year of publication, title of paper referred to, journal name in full, volume, and first and last page number (for a paper in a periodical see example 1 below). Reference to articles presented at meetings should be included in the list only if an expanded abstract is available (see example 2 below). References to unpublished papers are not permitted in the list but may be mentioned in the text. The form of literature references to books should be: author(s) name(s) followed by initials, year, title of book, vol. and page no. referred to, publisher (see example 3 below). References to authors contributing to multi-author books or to proceedings printed in book form should be similar to those for books (see example 4 below).

2. Bartel D.C. 1985. Interpretation of Crone PEM data. 55th SEG meeting, Washington, DC, Expanded Abstracts, 128-130.
3. Chiu C.K. 1992. An Introduction to Wavelets. Academic Press.
4. Ziolkowski A.M. 1979. Seismic profiling for coal on land. In: Developments in Geophysical Exploration Methods, Vol. 1 (ed. A.A. Fitch), pp. 271-306. Applied Science Publishers.
Tables
Tables should be compiled on separate sheets with a short descriptive title and a legend.
Illustrations
Original illustrations should be sent on request only after the paper has been accepted for publication. They must reach the Editorial Office in a condition suitable for reproduction. Each original should bear the author's name and be numbered according to the sequence of their appearance in the text, where they are referred to as Fig. 1, Fig. 2, etc. (See below for electronic artwork instructions.)
Lettering must be clear and of adequate size for reduction. Explanatory notes should be added to the caption.
Line drawings should be in black ink on white paper or tracing paper. Photographs, etc., should be supplied as clear black-and-white prints on glossy paper, usually larger than the final size of reproduction but not larger than 17 】 22 cm (page size of the journal).
The degree of reduction will be determined by the Editors, but in general the same degree of reduction will be applied to all figures in a paper.
In the interest of economy in mailing and ease of storage and handling, original figures should not be larger than the size of ordinary manuscript pages (see above).
Coloured illustrations are free of charge but have to be approved by the Editor.
List of captions
Each paper with illustrations must be accompanied by a list of captions, typed double-spaced on a separate page. Each caption must begin with the number of the illustration it refers to. Note that in the full-text online edition of the journal, figure captions may be truncated in abbreviated links to the full screen version. Therefore, the first 100 characters of any caption should inform the reader of key aspects of the figure.
Electronic submission
Submission on disk is required after acceptance. Word or WordPerfect are strongly preferred. If LaTeX or TeX are used, please use only the basic functions, avoiding complicated macros or cross-references. Please do not e-mail your manuscript.
Electronic artwork
We would like to receive your artwork in electronic form (in addition to good-quality hard copy). Please save vector graphics (e.g. line artwork) in Encapsulated Postscript Format (EPS), and bitmap files (e.g. half-tones) in Tagged Image File Format (TIFF). Ideally, vector graphics that have been saved in metafile (.WMF) or pict (.PCT) format should be embedded within the body of the text file. Detailed information on our digital illustration standards is available on the BSL Homepage at: http://www.blackwell-science.com/elecmed/digilla.htm.
Proofreading
Proofs are supplied for the author to check for typesetting accuracy. Costs for other changes at this stage may be charged to the author.
Proofs will be sent via e-mail as an Acrobat PDF (portable document format) file. The e-mail server must be able to accept attachments up to 4 MB in size. Acrobat Reader will be required in order to read this file. This software can be downloaded (free of charge) from the following Web site:
http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
This will enable the file to be opened, read on screen, and printed out in order for any corrections to be added. Further instructions will be sent with the proof. Proofs will be posted if no e-mail address is available. In your absence, please arrange for a colleague to access your e-mail to retrieve the proofs.
Offprints
Twenty-five free offprints will be supplied to the author(s). If more are required, they must be ordered before publication at the price given on the order form sent with the proofs. |
