Arrangement
Papers of a review, commentary or experience nature should be written in feature form with generous use of headings, graphics and illustrations. A summary abstract is also required. Papers reporting original investigations may be presented more formally thus: Abstract, brief, self-contained and embodying main conclusions; introductory section; Materials and methods; Results as concisely as possible, with the minimum number of tables and figures; Discussion; Conclusion; Acknowledgements; References.
Style
Authors should consult recent issues of the journal on matters of style. food Australia generally follows the spelling and hyphenation of The Macquarie Dictionary, except for ae and oe dipthongs which are printed e. Use the spellings: inquire, program, dispatch and judgement and the suffix -ise instead of -ize. The past tense should be used when referring to experimental work. The present tense may be used when referring to existing knowledge, or where the author is stating what is shown or concluded. Punctuation, units, abbreviations, symbols, numbers, dates etc should follow the Commonwealth of Australia Style manual for authors, editors and printers (Sixth Edition 2002, John Wiley & Sons). SI units should be used with capital L for litre.
