Instructions to Authors

Journal Address

Manuscripts for publication may be submitted either to the editor-in-chief or to the associate editors. A telephone number, fax number, and e-mail address of the author submitting the manuscript should be provided in a cover letter. Manuscripts may be submitted electronically by sending word processing files to the e-mail address of the editors.

Correspondence concerning accepted papers, proofs, and reprints should be directed to Fibers and Polymers Department, The Korean Fiber Society, The Korea Science and Technology Center #501, 635-4, Yeogsam-dong, Kangnam-gu, Seoul 135-703, Korea.

Scope of Journal

Fibers and Polymers publishes original research on all aspects of fiber and polymer science, engineering and technology, which have not been or are not to be published elsewhere.

Manuscripts

The editors welcome regular articles, communications, notes, and reviews. Articles should be comprehensive reports of significant results or conclusions. Communications should be preliminary reports of unusual urgency, significance and interest. A more complete article may be published at a later date. A note deals with a limited subject that requires no further elaboration in the future. Reviews should be short, critical surveys of progress in specific fields of fiber and polymer research during the previous 5-10 years and should contain new and important information on the subject. The length of both communications and notes should be less than 2000 words. Manuscripts are usually submitted to at least two experts for comments. Authors are invited to recommend reviewers.

Preparation of Manuscripts

Manuscripts must be typewritten (or reproduced on a high-quality printer) on 22x28cm or A4 paper, one side only, with adequate margins. The entire manuscript (including abstract, references, tables, and figure legends) should be double-spaced. All pages should be numbered consecutively. References, tables, figure captions, schemes, and figures should be placed in that order, at the end of the paper. Tables, charts, and schemes should be numbered with Arabic numerals. Original drawings and photographs should be attached to the end of one copy and authors should indicate by text or marginal notations in the typescript where the figures are to be inserted.

Authors should write in clear, concise English. The name of the author to whom inquiries about the paper may be addressed should be marked with an asterisk. Running heads (less than 50 letters) should be placed between the title of the paper and the abstract. An abstract should be provided for all articles, communications, notes, and reviews. Abstracts should explain briefly the reason for the work, the significant results, and conclusions. Five keywords should be listed after the abstract. The experimental section should provide a  clear, unambiguous description of materials, methods, and equipments in sufficient details to permit repetition of the work elsewhere.

It is the responsibility of authors to ensure the accuracy of references. References to the paper should be numbered in one consecutive series. References should be typed in the format specified by Fibers and Polymers (see below) and cited in the text by numbers in square brackets.

Nomenclature

Authors should use systematic names similar to those used by Chemical Abstracts Service and IUPAC. CA nomenclature rules are contained in Appendix VI of the current Chemical Abstracts Index Guide.

Submission of Manuscripts

Hard copies of the manuscripts must be submitted in triplicate either to the editor or to the associate editors. Manuscripts prepared using Microsoft Word and submitted electronically will be accepted for review. Authors should place the graphics (tables and figures) within the text by adding them at the end of the word processing file. A separate MS Word file or PowerPoint file that contains pictures and figures may be accepted with the text file. Authors may submit their manuscripts by sending the word processing files to the e-mail address of the editors.

Submission of the Final Version

A word processing file of the final, accepted version must be submitted either by sending a disk or by attaching it to the e-mail. A signed copyright transfer form should be mailed to the editor. When the file is sent on a disk, a Microsoft Word file on a 3.5” disk or CD is acceptable. The word processing format, file name, title, and authors should be indicated on the disk or CD.

Proofs and Offprints

Galley proofs will be sent to the author who submitted the paper. Proofs should be checked against the manuscript and returned as soon as possible. 30 complimentary offprints will be provided.
