About the journal
Endocrine publishes original papers describing results in all areas of endocrinology ranging through molecular, cellular, biochemical, physiological, clinical, and modeling aspects of the discipline.

Instructions to Authors
Submission
- One original plus three copies of all manuscripts should be mailed to the Editor
- Authors may identify potential reviewers
- Manuscripts may be submitted by fax provided that the requisite copies are forwarded by express mail the same day
- All animal experiments must be approved by a review committee at the institution from which the study is submitted
- All authors wishing to prepare review articles or book reviews should contact the Editor
Manuscripts
- Type manuscript in English, giving full first and last names and full affiliations for all authors
- Provide phone, fax, and E-mail numbers for corresponding author
- Type manuscript double-spaced on one side of consecutively numbered pages with 1- to 11/2-in. margins
- Subdivide manuscripts into the following sequence of sections: Title page, Abstract and Key Words, Introduction, Results, Discussion, Materials and Methods, Acknowledgments, and References
- Provide a running title of not more than 40 characters
- Include all figures and tables
- By submitting an article to Endocrine, all authors agree to abide by the journal's policies and procedures for handling suspect manuscripts, including procedures for notifying the author's institution or the Office of Research Integrity
Computer Disks
- An electronic disk version of your manuscript in a Macintosh format, preferably in a Microsoft Word document, is required. PC-prepared disks are also acceptable
Copyright Transfer Agreement
- Please include; manuscripts cannot be published without author's signed and dated form
Abstracts
- Abstracts should be a single, self-contained, paragraph of 100–200 words. Abbreviations and reference citations should be avoided
Index Entries
- Include 3–6 index entries/key words
Artwork
- Number figures consecutively with Arabic numerals, callouts (if any) should be cap letters
- All figures must be cited in text; efforts will be made to place the figure as close as possible to the first text citation. Include figure captions on a separate, numbered manuscript sheet
- Define all symbols and abbreviations used in the figure
- All illustrations, including chemical structures, must be provided in professional-quality, finished form ready for direct reproduction without revision by us
- Electronic version is Tiff or EPS format are acceptable, with an accompanying hard copy
- Color art cannot be accepted unless the author is willing to assume the additional costs involved in production; quotes given on request
- Photographs should be glossy prints of high quality and with strong contrasts to withstand some reduction
- Please indicate the magnification by a rule on the photograph
- Only figures will be returned in the case of rejected manuscripts
Tables
- Type on separate pages
- Number consecutively with Arabic numerals in order of mention in the text
- Provide titles for all tables
- Footnotes to tables indicated by lower case letters are acceptable, but they should not include extensive experimental detail.
Acknowledgments
- These should be included at the end of text; personal acknowledgments should precede those of institutions or agencies
References
- Cite in the text by italic Arabic numerals in parentheses, set on the text line
- List at the end of the paper in consecutive order

- Manuscripts in preparation or submitted, but not yet accepted, may be cited in the text and should not be included in the list of references
Policy Concerning Availability of Materials
- It is understood that by publishing a paper in Endocrine, authors agree to make available to colleagues in academic research any of the cells, nucleic acids, antibodies, and so on that were used in the research reported and not available from commercial suppliers.
Page charges
- There is a page charge of $60 per printed page for accepted articles
Reprints
- Reprints are available to authors at standard rates
