Instructions to Authors

General Information

Emu welcomes the submission of papers presenting original and significant ornithological research. All papers are refereed rigorously and constructively, in consultation with our Editorial Advisory Committee.

Emu publishes research articles and reviews in all branches of ornithology. It has a proud tradition of publishing papers on many aspects of the biology of birds (behaviour, ecology, evolution, life histories, molecular biology, morphology, movements, physiology, social organisation and systematics), and is now expanding its coverage to include conservation biology and applied ornithology. The Journal磗 emphasis is on studies relating to the Southern Hemisphere, with a particular focus on Australasia and Antarctica. Emu does not publish annotated bird lists unless they represent a long-term study and are accompanied by scientific analysis. Papers very specific to a small area will also not be considered unless they have particular broader relevance or a demonstrated significance to the conservation of Southern Hemisphere birds.

When preparing a paper for publication, please follow our journal style and layout as closely as possible. It may help if you consult a recent paper copy of the journal or view one of our sample papers . Detailed guidelines are set out in our Advice to Contributors.

There are no page charges for Emu.

Reprints

Reprints can be ordered prior to publication. An order form is sent to the corresponding author with final page proofs.

CSIRO PUBLISHING is not able to supply authors with PDFs of their papers. All papers are available from our website either by subscription or sale of individual papers. Authors may create links to their papers from their personal webpages. Authors may order hardcopy reprints of their papers at the time they complete author corrections.

Abstracting

The journal is abstracted by Current Contents, Science Citation Index and Zoological Record.
