About the journal

CZECHOSLOVAK MATHEMATICAL JOURNAL publishes original research papers of high scientific quality in mathematics. Although under a new title, the present Journal forms a continuation of the renowned Casopis pro pestovani mathematiky a fysiky founded in 1872. The fact that the editors wish to continue and maintain the tradition of our old journal is emphasized by the fact that the numbering of the volumes has not been changed, e.g. 47(122). The journal is published quarterly in issues containing 224 pages each. Manuscripts of papers intended for publication should be prepared according to the instructions for authors and sent to the Editorial Office.

Instructions to Authors

Papers which have been published or submitted for publication elsewhere are not acceptable. English language is preferred, but German and French are also admissible.

It is sufficient to send two copies of the manuscript to the Editorial Office. However, the author should keep a copy of his paper, because the Editor cannot take the responsibility for a possible loss of the manuscript during the refereeing procedure. Every manuscript is passed to a referee for his opinion and comments, and then it is subject to the approval by the Editorial Board. The manuscript must be the final version of the paper, changes in the proofs being admissible only exceptionally.

The arrangement of the paper should be as follows:

  • Title of the paper
  • Author's name and city
  • Abstract (not exceeding 12 lines)
  • Keywords
  • Mathematics Subject Classification 2000 (an extension of the AMS classification)
  • Text of the paper
  • References
  • Author's complete address (possibly also the e-mail address).
The manuscript should be printed or typewritten (with usual size of types), double-spaced, on one side of sheets of size A4. Mathematical formulae must be clearly readable. Since the journal is typeset in TeX, all usual fonts of TeX are available for mathematical symbols. However, if some more unusual fonts, or many different fonts are used, it is advisable to mark them in a clear way, and to attach a special list of these marks and the corresponding fonts. Displayed formulae are numbered on the left-hand side. References should be listed in the following style:

[1] Schwabik, S.; Vrkoc, I.: On Kurzweil-Henstock equiintegrable sequences. Math. Bohem. 121(1996), 189--207.

[2] Gordon, R. A.: The Integrals of Lebesgue, Denjoy, Perron and Henstock. Graduate Studies in Math., Vol. 4, AMS, Providence 1994.

For abbreviations of names of serials see Mathematical Reviews. References in the text should be quoted by the corresponding number in brackets [1]. References in the abstract should be given in full form, e.g. see Schwabik, S.; Vrkoc, I.: On Kurzweil-Henstock equiintegrable sequences. Math. Bohem. 121(1996), 189--207.

To speed up the publication procedure, the Editor invites the authors to send their papers in TeX in electronic form by e-mail or on IBM PC-compatible diskettes together with one printed copy. Again, the author should keep a copy of his files. These papers, if accepted for publication, will have a certain time priority before the others. Formats in PlainTeX or AMS-TeX are preferred. The diskette should contain all necessary macros which are not included in standard formats. Abstracts should contain no user-defined commands.

Figures must be either drawn clearly in black Indian ink (suitable for scanning and reproducing), or sent in an electronic form in PostScript (*.PS), Encapsulated PostScript (*.EPS), e.g. from Mathematica or MATLAB, or in another suitable electronic form (e.g. sources in METAFONT or output HPGL files for Hewlett-Packard plotters could be used, or other graphic formats like *.PCX, *.TIF, *.GIF, but the last should be sent in size suitable for our journal page adjustment in resolution at least 600 dpi). Indicate also the proper place of figures or tables in the manuscript on its margin by a pencil.

In case you need any further information in the process of preparing your manuscript, feel free to contact the Editor.
