About the journal

csb.gif (7757 bytes) An international journal for the publication of results and reviews on the chemical, biological, toxicological and ecological effects of chemical species in the environment and on methodology for the determination of chemical species and their bioavailability. The importance of speciation and bioavailability research to the development of pollution law and control technologies is being increasingly appreciated by environmental regulatory agencies throughout the world.
Now in its eleventh year of publication Chemical Speciation and Bioavailability has become the international journal of choice in this developing area. It is abstracted in all major abstracting journals including Current Contents and CAS. All papers are externally peer reviewed.

Instructions to Authors

1. Submissions.

Original unpublished papers, notes, correspondence and reviews should be submitted to one of the Editors (see inside front cover). Articles are accepted on the understanding that they are not being submitted elsewhere, and that they will be submitted for conventional (anonymous) refereeing. Authors are asked to suggest the names of two referees, together with their addresses.

2. Types of Contributions.

Full papers should describe complete studies. Notes should not exceed 1,500 words, and may be used for the preliminary publication of results. Extensive speculation is not appropriate in a Note. The Correspondence section publishes letters to the Editors and provides a forum for the exchange of views and comments. Critical Reviews of the literature on topical subjects will also be published.

3. Typescripts.

Scripts should be typed in English on one side of A4 paper
(21
3 30 cm, 8.5 3 11 inches, or thereabouts) using double spacing throughout and leaving margins of at least 3 cm. The original typescript plus one copy should be sent accompanied by the text on floppy disk, prepared using a standard word processing package.

4. Layout.

Papers and notes should be divided into: Abstract, Introduction, Methodology, Results, Discussion and Conclusions followed by Acknowledgements and References. Reviews should include a brief introduction and should be divided into appropriate sections and subsections followed by up-to-date references. Headings of sections should be in capitals and centred. Subheadings should be upper/lower case italicised.

5. Title Page.

A concise and informative title should be followed by the authors’ full names (capitals and lower case), affiliations and full postal addresses (italics, or singly underlined). The author to whom correspondence should be addressed should be marked by an asterisk (*), and should supply an E-mail address and fax number.

6. Abstracts.

Papers and Notes should be preceded by a self-contained abstract of not more than 250 words summarising the most important results. The abstract should be followed by a separate line containing not more than 5 Key Words.

7. Latin Names.

Scientific names of genera, species and varieties should be italicised (or singly underlined). Species names should be given in full at the first opportunity.

8. Units.

SI or modern metric units should be used. Do not use ppm or ppb. Use km2 not sq km. Litre (L) is an acceptable alternative to dm3.
