Instructions to Authors
Manuscripts. Manuscripts (in English) should be typed double spaced on one side of good quality paper with generous margins etc. Two hard copies of the manuscript should be sent to:
The Editor of "Chemia Analityczna" Faculty of Chemistry Warsaw University Pasteura 1, PL-02-093 Warsaw, POLAND The manuscript should be headed by a concise but informative title followed by the names of the authors, and the address of the laboratory(ies) where the work was done. The corresponding author should also provide the e-mail address and the fax number. The name of the corresponding author (to whom proofs are to be sent) should be marked by an asterisk. The authors are encouraged to use descriptive headings in the following order: Experimental, Results and Discussion, Acknowledgements (if any), References. The paper should preferably not exceed 15 typewritten pages including the tables and references. The approximate location of the tables and figures should be indicated on the margin. An electronic version of the manuscript should be sent on 3.5" floppy disc. The final version of the ms. can be also submitted via e-mail to chemanal@chem.uw.edu.pl. The preferred format of the file is MS Word for Windows.
Short communications may be in the form of short papers reporting less extensive (but equally original) investigations, and laboratory notes describing in a concise way some important technical innovations. They should normally not exceed 4-5 typewritten pages.
Reviews should present a critical evaluation of a particular field of analytical chemistry and should not normally be larger than 20 typewritten pages. The corresponding author is requested to contact the Editor beforehand to get his preliminary acceptance.
Abstract. An abstract of 50-200 words should precede the text. The Polish authors are encouraged to enclose also the Polish translation of the abstract. The abstract for short communication should not exceed 100 words.
References. References should be numbered in sequence as they appear in the text in square brackets e.g. Kemula [1], Minczewski et al. [2], Nurnberg et al. [3] etc. and collected under "References" at the end of the paper. The names of all authors together with their initials should be given. Journal titles should be given in abbreviation in accordance with international practice followed by volume number (underlined), page number and the year of publication (in parenthesis). Books are to be cited by giving the author(s) or in the case of collective work the author(s) and editor(s) (if any), full title, publisher, the place of publication, year and page number.
Examples:
Tables. Tables should be typed on separate sheets. They are to be numbered with Arabic numerals, provided with an appropriate caption and clearly arranged so that they can be understood without reference to the text.
Figures. Figures should be submitted on white, good quality paper in a form suitable for reproduction, preferably in a double size to that intended for publication with appropriate lettering etc. Axes of a graph should be clearly labelled along the axes outside the graph itself. All figures are to be numbered consecutively with Arabic numbers. Captions for figures should be typed on a separate sheet.
Nomenclature, abbreviations and symbols. Current internationally recognized (IUPAC) chemical nomenclature should be used. Common trivial names and abbreviations are permissible but should be defined when first used. The SI system of units is to be used consistently. Molar concentrations are expressed as mol 1-1 and w/w concentrations preferably as mg kg-1 although ppm and ppb may be accepted if defined on introduction. Ions should be written as Ca2+, PO43-, etc. and isotopes as 24Na, 198Au etc. It is recommended to use the Stock notation for the indication of stoichiometric oxidation states, e.g. copper(II) chloride (and not cupric chloride), potassium hexacyanoferrate(II) rather than potassium ferrocyanide etc. When quoting numbers decimal points should be indicated by full stops.
