About the journal

The mission of the EAFP is to promote exchange of knowledge and co-ordinate research related to fish and shellfish pathology. We achieve this through:
our two yearly International Conference of Fish and Shellfish Pathology. Click the 'Conferences' button to the left, to view information on this and related conferences or go directly to our dedicated conference web site.
publication of a Bulletin six times a year, Practical Guides on Fish Pathology and a Members Handbook each four year. Click the 'Publications' button to the left, to get additional information on our publications or a flavour of the content of the last EAFP Bulletin.
We have more than 1200 members from 61 countries worldwide. If you would like a membership form click on the 'Membership' butten to the left.
If you have a position that would be of interest to a fellow EAFP member or are seeking a position, please click on the 'Positions Vacant' button to the left for more details.

Instructions to Authors
The EAFP Bulletin is a means of communicating between members, publishing news and short scientific articles. Members and non-members are encouraged to submit items of news, announcements, meetings reports for publication in the News section. Letters and points for discussion, including suggestions and criticisms are particularly encouraged.
Scientific communications
Aims and scope: Priority is given to concise papers that merit rapid publication by virtue of their interest to the field of fish pathology. Preliminary observations or partial studies are acceptable provided they are adequately supported by data and experimental detail. Short reviews, methodology papers and papers which propose alternative hypotheses based on previous data will also be considered. All papers are submitted to peer review and the editor reserves the right to reject or modify as necessary.
Manuscript format
Full papers: Manuscripts should be divided as follows:
- A concise title.
- The authors and their affiliations
- An abstract which stands independently and adequately describes the work
- Introduction
- Materials and methods
- Results
- Discussion (results and discussion may be combined)
- References
In the text, references should appear (Wang, 1985) for 1 or 2 authors and (Wolfson et al., 1989) for 3 or more. References should be cited in alphabetical order at the end of the paper, thus: Wang, J. C. (1985) DNA topoisomerases. Ann. Rev. Biochem. 54: 655-697. Wolfson, J.S., Hooper, D.C. and Swartz, M. N. (1989) Mechanisms of action and resitance to the quinolone antimicrobial agents. In: Quinolone Antimicrobial Agents (Wolfson, J. S. and Hooper, D. C., Eds.) pp 5-34. American Society for Microbiology, Washington DC.
Notes: The Note format is intended for the presentation of brief observations that do not warrant full length papers. Each Note should have an abstract of not more than 50 words. Do not use section headings in the body of the Note. The numbers of figures and tables should be kept to a minimum. Materials and Methods should be described in the text, NOT in tables and figure legends. Acknowledgements should be presented as in full length papers, but do not use a heading. The references section is identical to that of full length papers and should include a heading.
Submissions procedure
Authors are strongly encouraged to submit their articles on disk with accompanying manuscripts. Manuscripts should be typed double spaced in a sans-serif font such as Helvetica or Ariel, point size 12. Figures and tables should be clearly labelled on separate pages at the end of the manuscript and should NOT be embedded in the text. Original black and white photographs should be supplied, of a size appropriate to the format of the journal.
Electronic submission: Manuscripts received electronically on disk or by E-mail can be processed more rapidly and avoid introduction of errors. Macintosh?and Windows?formats of most common word processors are acceptable, although ASCII text formats are often easier to process.
Tables should be saved as separate files using tab or comma delimited text, or as RTF files.
Figures should be saved separately, photographs as good quality JPG files, graphs as Excel files with complete data sets as it is these that are used to redraw the graphs in FreeHand. Figures supplied in PowerPoint are WHOLLY UNACCEPTABLE: Powerpoint only operates at a display resoltion of 72dpi which is utterly hopeless for high quality print. Authors should ensure that the electronic version exactly matches the printed version.
Where to send your manuscript
Following acceptance, proofs will be sent to the corresponding author, generally as a PDF file by email, along with an order form for reprints. Disks and accompanying manuscripts (2 Copies) should be sent to:
